Rebecca Ann Mugford

Rebecca Ann Mugford, age 49, left this earth too soon on September 12, 2023. She bravely battled metastatic breast cancer for 5 years. She passed away surrounded by her loving family at Meriter Hospital in Madison, WI. Becky was born on June 10th, 1974, in Iron Mountain, MI, where she attended Iron Mountain Public Schools and graduated with the Class of 1992. She attended Northern Michigan University. After college she moved to Madison, WI. Beck worked in Madison for UPS, security jobs, and for the last 15 years she worked for the City of Madison in the Parking Authority Division. Beck was a kind, considerate, thoughtful, and loving person to everyone she knew. She was adventurous, fearless, brave, soft and tough, mischievous, and she had the best sense of humor. She loved camping, hiking, traveling, and held time spent with family and her friends as sacred. She was the spark-plug in all family get-togethers. She was very artistic, and her sketches, painting, design, woodwork, needlework, photography and appreciation of surroundings mirrored that love. Beck spent precious time with her son, Lauzon. The two loved hiking, traveling, exploring, camping, and shared a Marvel Comic appreciation of books and movies together. Beck loved bringing him to Iron Mountain, sharing family time, and giving him an appreciation of exploring the U P together, especially Lake Superior's shoreline. Their love of quiet time together, picnics, hammocks, board games were dear and valued. Beck looked forward to the time spent with her 2 sisters. She loved visiting her sister Susie and brother-in-law Charlie's home in Appleton, spending many New Year's Eves there. Together Susie and Beck spent time antiquing, relaxing, and sharing design ideas. Beck loved being with her sister Mary, recalling childhood antics, sharing ideas, memories, and appreciating the life and ways of Mary's 3 year old daughter Dorothy (Beck's niece). Together the three sisters all shared a love of spending time in the Keweenaw Peninsula, as well as a love for each other. Beck loved her job and going to work for the city of Madison, as well as the people she worked with. She considered her co-workers to be extended family. The City of Madison Parking Authority Workers and City of Madison Police Department gave so generously of their continued support and friendship, especially during these past years of illness. Their care and camaraderie was deeply appreciated by Beck, as well as her family. Beck is survived by her parents, Bill and Kathy Mugford, who love her and are so proud of her. We will miss her dimpled smile. She is survived by her son, Lauzon, 10, of Madison, WI; her sister, Susie and brother-in-law, Charlie Fredericksen of Appleton; as well as her sister, Mary, and niece Dorothy Davey of Marquette, MI. She also leaves behind several aunts and cousins, a host of hometown family friends, and all of her long time friends who meant so much to her throughout her life. A visitation will be held from 4:00 pm - 6:00 pm on Friday, Nov. 10, 2023, at the Erickson-Rochon & Nash Funeral Home in Iron Mountain with a prayer service to follow at 6:00 pm.
