Raymond J. LeGault

Raymond J LeGault, 82, of Kingsford MI died peacefully Friday 12/4/20 after a long battle with Alzheimer’s disease. He had been a resident of Mission Point in Ishpeming, MI for the past few years. Ray was born on May 30, 1938 in Kingsford, MI, son of the late Andrew and Helen (Kassin) LeGault. He graduated from Kingsford High School in 1956. He served in the US Navy for four years in the Pacific submarine division. He then attended electrical school in Marquette, MI and went on to work for Wisconsin Electric Power Company in Iron Mountain, MI where he retired after thirty years. He had been a lifelong member of the Elks club and supported many causes. Ray was an avid hunter and loved being at Camp Smear since his childhood. He enjoyed making maple syrup in his sugar shack, playing horseshoes, bocce ball and cards with family. He was always finding some project to accomplish at camp. Ray also enjoyed vegetable gardening and canning. He followed the Kingsford Flivvers football and would attend games in and out of town with his friends. Afterwards they could be found reliving the game at the Woodward. Pine Mountain ski jump tournaments were something that he and his friends looked forward to every year. They would assist with getting the hill ready for jumps and would watch from the bottom of the hill with Ray’s 10 bean soup and venison sausage. Later in life he took up golf and enjoyed playing with his daughter, son in law and friends. Ray enjoyed playing with and dog sitting the family dogs Gizmo and Bella Bear. They would get excited to see him miles from his home. Ray was a very loving father and left a lasting imprint on the hearts of all he encountered. His sense of humor, laugh, joking and love of a good time will be remembered by all. Ray is survived by his children, Janine (John) Blemberg of Marquette, MI and Brian LeGault of Iron Mountain, MI. Granddaughters Jess Blemberg (Scot Pekarek) and Ali Blemberg (Adam Duerr) both of Minneapolis, MN. Twin Great Grandsons Niko and Boden Pekarek. Sister in Laws, Donna LeGault of Iron Mountain , Marge LeGault of Waukesha, WI, and Darlene LeGault of Port Austin, MI and numerous close nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by brothers, Wilfred, Tony, Donald and James LeGault; sisters, Marcella Izzo, Helene Rappi and Mary Ann Nord. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, there will not be a funeral. The family will have a private remembrance at Camp Smear in the Summer 2021 . The family has entrusted the Erickson-Rochon & Nash Funeral Home of Iron Mountain.
