Mulford Miller

Mulford Miller IRON MOUNTAIN - Mulford E. Miller, 91, passed away Thursday, March 4, 2004, at Dickinson County Memorial Hospital in Iron Mountain. Mr. Miller was born in Mitchell, S.D. on March 17, 1912, son of the late Mulford Timothy and Magdalene (Salzwedel) Miller. He spent his early years in Plattsburgh, N.Y., and then in St. James, Minn., where he graduated from high school. He then moved to St. Paul, Minn., where he worked for the state of Minnesota until leaving for military service in the U.S. Army during World War II in the European Theatre. He was honorably discharged from the Army as a master sergeant. Following military service, he attended the University of Minnesota obtaining a degree in public administration. Mr. Miller was employed at the Veterans Administration at Fort Snelling, Minn., Wadsworth, Kan., Miles City, Mont. and at the VA Medical Center in Iron Mountain. Since coming to Iron Mountain, Mr. Miller has been an active member of Kiwanis, Trinity United Methodist Church and the Democratic Party. He has served on the Dickinson County Canvas Board and the Dickinson County Jury Board. He was a member of the Chippewa Club and the Pine Grove County Club. Mr. Miller enjoyed gardening and especially enjoyed teaching his granddaughters to fish. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Gladys; two sons, Stephen (Dianne) Miller of Madison, N.J. and Timothy Miller of Milwaukee; four granddaughters, Jennifer, Elizabeth, Sarah and Caroline Miller. Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Erickson-Rochon & Nash Funeral Home in Iron Mountain. Funeral services will be on Wednesday at noon at Trinity United Methodist Church in Iron Mountain. Burial will be in Canby, Minn. Memorials may be made to Trinity United Methodist Church or the Iron Mountain-Kingsford Kiwanis Club.
