Marvin L. Lundin

Our father, Marvin L. Lundin, of Quinnesec passed away peacefully in the comfort of his own home on Friday, May 31, 2024, surrounded by his loving family at the age of 93. Dad was born on January 9, 1931, in Niagara, WI, son of the late Arthur and Anna (Guesthier) Lundin. He graduated from Niagara High School in the class of 1949. While attending a street dance, Dad was smitten immediately when he saw Barbara “Taylor” Schjoth for the first time. On October 6, 1951, they married at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church in Goodman, WI beginning their 72-year love affair. One month after the wedding Dad was drafted into the U.S. Army. He served during the Korean War until his honorable discharge in 1953. Once home from the War, they lived frugally for a few years to save for a home that they purchased in 1955, where they have resided since. Employed by the Niagara Paper Mill for 44 years, leaving the memory of a kind man wearing a smile, coffee cup in hand, working hard until the job was done. He will also be remembered for nicknames he gave to most everyone he met. Dad loved getting together every other Tuesday for breakfast with his friends from the Paper Mill, “Norbert”, “Robin”, “Edsel”, “Earl”, and “The SooLine”. A special thanks to Dad’s best friend, Ron “Norbert” DeCremer, for picking him up for breakfast and the numerous other outings he and Dad did together. Our father was a loyal, doting husband and dedicated family man. After he and Mom retired, they enjoyed traveling the United States together with a group of local, like minded couples creating memories to last a lifetime. Our folks often found themselves spending much of their days in their manicured back yard, continually making improvements and maintaining the beautiful space they created. The grandchildren and great-children will have many memorable memories spent at our folks home. Dad enjoyed being part of the community. He enjoyed walking the Quinnesec streets with his two black labs, Jodi and Jenni, he was an avid newspaper reader, who was a regular patron at the Library where he would sit for hours getting caught up on world events and sports. Dad loved food, especially ribs and wings, Lady Bug ice cream and Mom’s homemade soups and pot roast. He loved the color purple, Mom in a striped top wearing her white jeans. Dad will be deeply missed by his loving wife Barbara: the three of us, Roxann “Lady” Lundin of Norway, Cindy “Caroline” (Bill) Bowers of Westminster, CO, and Kim “Double” Lundin of Hudson, WI; his grandchildren, Michael (Teresa) Mainville, Angela (Neal) Jack, Kristin (Nate) Heyrman, and Mark (Jessie) Bowers; great-grandchildren, Sidney Jane, Max, Joey, Ella, Levi, Charlotte, and Brayden; a brother, Arthur Lundin; and many other family and friends. In addition to his parents, Dad is preceded in death by 2 siblings, Joyce Cheney and Kenneth Lundin. While Dad did not wish to have any kind of fuss at all, we find it necessary to honor his life and memory, at the very least, in this obituary and a private family service. We want to acknowledge our Mom who took care of Dad, with love and compassion and patience especially through these last years and was able to keep him home,where he wanted to be. We are grateful.
