MARTIN R. “Marty” JOHNSON of Niagara, WI lost his battle with cancer on Sunday, January 3, 2016 at his home in Niagara, WI. Marty was born on July 11, 1958 in Escanaba, MI to Clyde M. and Gwen “Marsh” Johnson. Marty moved with his family to Southeastern Wisconsin at two years old, where he grew up. He attended Big Foot High School in Walworth, WI and Gateway Technical College in Kenosha, WI. Marty married Betty J. Lessor in Union Grove, WI on April 24, 1975. They had three children and divorced eight years later. Marty raised the children as a single parent. Marty enjoyed hunting and fishing, especially fishing with his sons and grandsons and friend, Mike Pierce. He liked keeping his lawn and flower garden neat. He moved to this area in 2000. He is survived by his maternal grandmother, Elise Marsh of Pinecrest Nursing Home; mother, Gwen Gilbert of Iron Mountain; father, Clyde “Betty” Johnson of Kenosha, WI; three children, Joseph (Nicole) Johnson of Burlington, WI, Eric Johnson of East Troy, WI and Aniesha Johnson of Niagara, WI; eight grandchildren, Benjamin, Nicholas, Zoey, Carmen,Tyler, and Savanna Johnson and Lexius and Kodey Oliver; sister, Deby Johnson of Iron Mountain; brother, Mike “Karen” Johnson of Pembine, WI; Kevin (Tracy) Johnson of Hardwood, MI; sister, Khristine Johnson of Brandon, FL; aunts, Marry Skell, Joyce Gilligon, and Diana (Terry) Wiley; and many cousins of Upper Michigan, Wisconsin, Pennsylvania, New York, Oregon, Idaho and Florida. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Cyrus and Rose Johnson of Aurora, WI; his maternal grandfather, Sidney T. Marsh of Kingsford; aunt, Rose DeClark; and three uncles, Clayton Johnson, Fred Marsh and Thomas Marsh. Per Marty's wishes there will not be any service at this time.
