Lillice Herzog

Lillice L. Herzog, 97, passed away peacefully at her longtime home in Randville on Tuesday, June 21, 2011. She was born on Jan. 21, 1914, in Granite Bluff, the daughter of the late John and Lillian (Bartle) Steele. Lillice was a loving, caring person who really loved spending her time with family and friends. She was a hard working woman who especially enjoyed vegetable and flower gardening, crocheting, dancing, and playing Smear. She was proud to have completed her education, receiving her G.E.D. at the age of 61. She will be greatly missed by all. She is survived by four children, Marian Schuchart of Marinette, Wis., Jack (Barbara) Matchett of Negaunee, Alice (Bill) Rice of Ishpeming, and Bill Herzog (friend Sarah Jones) of Hot Springs Village, Ark..; two brothers, Carl (Rose) Steele of Randville and Leland (Gwendolyn) Steele of Ketchikan, Alaska; nine grandchildren, Susan Brede (friend Rick St. Clair) of Green Bay, Wis., Tim (Heidi) Rice of Homestead, Wis., Donald Schuchart of Green Bay, Terry Rice of Bay City, Mich., Patti Jo (Tim ) Effertz of Pewaukee, Wis., Michael (Dianne) Herzog of Fairhope, Ala., Todd Rice of Ishpeming, Julie (Bill Mosher) Herzog of Denver, and Bobby (Tammi) Matchett of Ishpeming. She also leaves 22 great-grandchildren; seven great-great grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends. Lillice was preceded in death by her husband of 47 years, Herman "Butch" Herzog; a grandson, Guy Schuchart; a daughter-in-law, Heide Herzog; son-in-law, Donald "Buster" Schuchart; and two sisters and six brothers. Visitation will be Sunday, June 26, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Tondin-Ross & Freeman Funeral Home. Funeral services will be Monday, June 27, at 10 a.m. at the funeral home. Rev. David Anderson will officiate. Burial will be in Cemetery Park. Pallbearers will be her grandsons and great-grandsons. Honorary pallbearers will be her potato picking Steele nephews, Edward "Pepper," Dennis "Bucky," Duane "Cardy," Gerald "Jim", Roger, and Larry Steele.
