Kenneth J. Roell

Kenneth J. Roell, 60, of Channing, died Sat. July 25, 2015 at St. Joseph Hospital in Marshfield. He was born on Dec. 20, 1954, the son of Robert and Imogene (Pierron) Roell. Ken was a lifelong resident of Channing and graduated from North Dickinson High School in 1973. He played basketball in high school and for years after in the local men's leagues. Ken worked for Dickinson Homes as a crew foreman. He also worked at the Roell Family Farms, where he helped raised mink , cattle, and chickens. He loved doing farm work on his International Harvester tractor. Ken had a great sense of humor and will be remembered for his fun loving personality. He enjoyed playing with his kids and grand kids on his model train set. Ken loved to sing and dance and was always the last one on the dance floor at family weddings. He built and flew model airplanes, and he was a Boy Scout Leader. Ken also enjoyed driving his Blueberry colored 1947 Plymouth and his Honda motorcycle, along with snowmobiling and four wheeling. He married Catherine Wilson on Nov. 10, 1979 in Channing. She preceded him in death on Feb. 27, 2007. Ken married Susan Ann Piasini on December 24, 2012 at the Grace Presbyterian Church. He is survived by his wife Susan, his mother Imogene Roell of Channing, his children Kenneth Roell of Goldsboro, NC, Brandon Roell of Lincoln, NE, Andrew Roell of Bates Twp., MI, Jessica Roell (Dave Lesandrini) of Crystal Falls, Melanie Roell (Bryan Richardson) of Iron Mountain, Jessica Bays (Scott Taylor) of Ishpeming, Ivan (Brenda) Hanson of Channing, Kenyon (Lindsey) Hansen of Hancock, and Fawn (Steve)Anderson of Felch; seven brothers and sisters Sharon (Joe) Bussone, of Almont, MI, Robert (Wanda) Roell of Iron Mountain, Patti Roell of Milwaukee, Nancy (Steve) Reese of Channing, David (Julie) Roell of Channing, Tom (Patti Ann) Roell of Iron Mountain, Julie (Mike) Kauper of Madison; eight grandchildren Jay, Chrissie, Porter, Keagan, Zya, Mason, Aspen, and Paxton, and many nieces and nephews. Ken was preceded in death by his father Robert Roell, his sister and brother-in-law, Mary and Jack Croci. Visitation will be Friday, July 31, 2015 from 2-5pm at Grace Presbyterian Church in Sagola. Funeral services will follow at 5pm at the church. Rev. David Anderson will officiate. Burial will be in the Channing Cemetery.
