Kenneth Roy Johnson

Kenneth R. Johnson, 67, of Kingsford passed away peacefully on Wednesday, Jan. 11, 2023, in the comfort of his own home. Kenny J. was born in Iron Mountain on Feb. 9, 1955, son of the late Emil and Blanche (Fayas) Johnson. Unbeknown to little Kenny J., his future wife joined him in the hospital nursery later that day. On May 8, 1987, he married the former Paula Roberge. A natural outdoorsman and talented driver, Ken found joy in many of the different positions worked over the years. Among them were operating his logging business, laying cable for CCI, working for UP Special Delivery and he was particularly fond of transporting for Arms of Angels. Ken seized any chance he could to spend his free time enjoying nature. His ideal day began with a cup of coffee and drive in his old Toyota truck out to camp and finished with a successful hunt or fishing trip at dusk. His gardens were always well kept and friends and family greatly appreciated his garden-fresh tomatoes. Ken’s strong faith in his Lord, Jesus Christ, carried him through his many ailments. He will be remembered as a hard worker with a heart of gold, a first stop for a helping hand and, most importantly, a courageous and loving husband father and grandfather. Ken will be deeply missed by his wife, Paula; 2 children, Amy (Brian) VanOss and Kevin Lee (Nadine) Johnson; 3 grandsons, Drew, Jace and Logan; special family, Bill and Samantha; 4 siblings, Marvin (Char) Johnson, Barbara (Marvin) Casperson, David (Patty) Johnson and twin sister, Karen (Ron) Johnson; his best friend, father-in-law and cribbage partner, Don Roberge; 3 brothers-in-law, Robert (Michele) Roberge, Jerry Roberge, and Michael (Teresa) Roberge; and many other relatives and friends. In addition to his parents, Ken is preceded in death by his mother-in-law, Jeanette Roberge. Visitation will be at Evangelical Covenant Church, 120 O Dill Dr, Norway, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on Monday, Jan. 16, 2023, with Rev. James Danielson officiating the Funeral Service at 11:00 a.m. Burial will be in Iron Mountain Cemetery Park. Ken’s family would like to express their deep appreciation to Pastor Danielson, close cousin, Dick Edberg, special friends, James and Belinda Burke, as well as Dr. Beth Schroeder, Karen Steiber, and staff for their amazing support and care.
