June S. Larson

June Shirley Ione Larson, 95, of Iron Mountain, died Friday, March 29, 2019 at Maryhill Manor in Niagara, WI. She was born February 21, 1924 in Iron Mountain, daughter of the late Julius and Signe (Johnson) Hansen. June graduated from Iron Mountain high school June 12, 1941 and attended the Michael Reese Hospital in Chicago for one year where she specialized in infant care. She worked at the Dickinson County hospital for 25 years as an OB nurses aide. June married Robert W. Larson on August 24, 1947in her parents dining room in Iron Mountain. He preceded her in death on January 30, 2007. June was a member of the First Covenant Church and was very active in many covenant women’s activities. June began teaching sunday school at the tender age of 14. She established the nursery at the First Covenant Church and was instrumental in establishing the prayer service at Pine Manor Nursing Home, now Manorcare Health Care Services, with her good friend Lucy Marston. She knit all of her grandchildren booties and loved to sew, bake and read. First and foremost in her life was her faith and trust in her Savior. June’s greatest joy was spending time with her family. Her children have many fond memories of their annual family camping trip. Bob and June took their children through 46 states on adventures! Left to cherish her memory are June’s five children, Butch (Jean) Larson of Kingsford, Kurt (Sherri) Larson of Spread Eagle, Calvin (Cathy) Larson of Auburndale, FL, Roberta “Bobbie Ann” Flaminio (Bill Menza) of Iron Mountain, and Bill (Tammy) Larson of Wausau, WI.; two sisters, Dorothy (Bud) Edlund of Kingsford and Carolyn “Peachie” (Elwood) Anderson of Iron Mountain; brother-in-law, Paul (Ruth) Larson of Iron Mountain; sisters-in-law, Addie Hansen of Marshfield, WI; 13 grandchildren; and 14 great grandchildren. June was preceded in death by her husband, Robert, son in law, Pete Flaminio, one brother, Ray Hansen, two brothers-in-law Marvin (Eleanor) Larson and Jack (Dolly) Larson. Visitation will be held from 10:30 to 12:30 Monday, April 8, 2019 at the Erickson-Rochon & Nash Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow at 1:00 pm Monday at the First Covenant Church. Rev. Kevin Sullivan will officiate. June’s grandchildren will serve as pallbearers. Burial will be in the Quinnesec Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the First Covenant Church in June ‘s memory.The family would like to express their love and gratitude to Peachie for the unwavering time and support that she gave to June during her later years.
