Joyce E. Muterspaugh

Joyce E. Muterspaugh, 90, longtime resident of Hulst Manor in Iron Mountain, passed away on Tuesday, September 5, 2017 at the Iron County Medical Care Facility in Crystal Falls where she has resided the past four months. She was born June 7, 1927 in Felch, MI, daughter of the late Jacob and Anna (Wickman) Isaacson. Joyce graduated from Felch High School in 1945 and was a lifelong resident of the area. She worked for Michigan Bell Telephone Co. in Crystal Falls and Iron Mountain for several years and for a short time for the City of Kingsford. In 1960, Joyce married Maurice Garbrecht and he preceded her in death in 1974. She later married William Muterspaugh who died in 1983. She was a member of Our Saviours Lutheran Church, WELCA, the Martha Circle and the Sewing Bee. Joyce enjoyed reading, sewing, music and playing keyboard. Joyce is survived by two step sons, Roger Muterspaugh & Lawrence (Debbie) Muterspaugh; two step daughters, Janet Smith & Alice Corbin; many step grandchildren and step great grandchildren; 11 nieces and nephews, Gary, Gail, Gina, Warren, Lori, Mark, Rose, Faye, Mable, Jack and Suzanne; several great nieces and great nephews including a special great nephew, Rob Willman. Besides her parents and husbands, Joyce was preceded in death by four brothers, Leo, Alfred, Werner and Chester Isaacson; and six sisters, Ellen Isaacson, Emelia Anderson, Agda Lindstrom, Mildred Isaacson, Clarice Richtig and Beatrice Maki. Visitation will be held from 10:00 to 11:00 am on Friday at Our Saviours Lutheran Church in Iron Mountain. Funeral services will follow at 11:00 am at the church. Rev. Paul Strom will officiate. Burial will be in the Quinnesec Cemetery. The family would like to thank Sabrina for her help and kindness the past three years and also the staff at the Iron County Medical Care Facility for their excellent care of Joyce. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Joyce’s memory to the Our Saviours Lutheran Church Radio Broadcast or Zion Lutheran Church in Felch.
