"Joseph LaFave" IRON MOUNTAIN - Joseph N. LaFave, 92, of 826 Spring St., Iron Mountain, died Tuesday, April 22, 2003, at his home in Iron Mountain. He was born Oct. 13, 1910, in Ishpeming, son of the late Fred and Emma (LeQuia) LaFave. He was a lifelong resident of Iron Mountain. Joe married Margaret Goulette in 1933, and she preceded him in death in 1989. He was the manager of the State of Michigan Liquor Store for 34 years until retiring in 1972. Joe served four years on the Iron Mountain School Board as treasurer. He married Emily Goloversic in 1990. Joe was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Iron Mountain, Holy Name Society, United Commercial Travelers (UCT), and the Knights of Columbus for more than 50 years. He will always be remembered for his smile, good humor and his quick wit. Joe is survived by his wife, Emily; a son, Gilbert "Gibby" LaFave of Iron Mountain; two daughters, Jane (John) Dore of Leucadia, Calif., and Nancy (Richard) McCarthy of Whitehall, lower Michigan; three sisters, Dorothy Wentermini of West Bend, Wis., Lorraine Hester of Florida and Clara Oremus of Milwaukee; 10 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; a great-great-granddaughter; eight stepchildren; numerous stepgrandchildren and stepgreat-grandchildren. Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. today at the Erickson-Rochon & Nash Funeral Home of Iron Mountain. The Knights of Columbus will recite the rosary at 7 p.m. today at the funeral home. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home and at 11 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Iron Mountain. Msgr. James Kaczmarek will offer the Mass of Christian Burial. Burial will be in Cemetery Park in Iron Mountain. Pallbearers will be Gilbert "Gibby" LaFave, Joey, Gene and Gibby LaFave Jr., Adam LaFave and Bill Goloversic. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Carmelite Monastery or the Marquette Home Health Hospice.
