Jerome A. Gangl

Jerome A. Gangl, 85, of of Sagola, passed away on Thursday, September 5, 2019 at St. Mary's Hospital in Green Bay. He was born May 28, 1934 in Buhl, Minnesota, son of the late Frank and Edith (Fraedrich) Gangl. Jerome was a United States Army veteran. He worked in the Groveland Mine until the early 1970’s and then went to college, earning an associate’s degree in accounting. He married Mabel Halliday on Feb. 3, 1962 in Nashwauk, Minnesota. Jerome worked as a loan collection officer at the Iron Mountain-Kingsford Community Credit Union for several years until his retirement. Jerome enjoyed hunting, fishing, ATV rides, and tinkering. He especially enjoyed building trailers and sheds for family and friends. Most of all, he loved his family. His grandchildren and great-grandchildren often brought a big smile to his face. Jerome is survived by his children, Jeffrey Gangl of Sagola, Kenneth (Gloria Pemble) Gangl of Sagola and Renee (James) Broeders of Sagola; 2 brothers, Danny (Jo Anne) Gangl and Frank (Sue) Gangl; 2 sisters, Donna Mae (Jack) Tomashek and Joan (Bob) Shevich; grandchildren, Bryan (Catherine) Holkup, Sherry Holkup, Victoria (Wylie) Haynes, Tommy (Summer) Schwenn and Jason Schwenn (Anavay), James Broeders Jr., Christopher (Cassandra) Broeders, Adam (Kelsey) Broeders and Sheila (Chester) Winfield; great-grandchildren, Norah, Little Ed, Chelsea, Charlie, Octavia, June, Tallulah, and Letty; and several nieces and nephews. Jerome was preceded in death by his wife, Mabel; 2 sisters, Betty (Wayne) Marsh and Noreen (Bud) Bemrose; and a granddaughter, Victoria Broeders. Visitation will be held on Sunday, September 8 from 3:00 to 6:00 pm at the Erickson-Rochon & Nash Funeral Home in Iron Mountain. The funeral service will be on Monday at 11:00 am at St. Rose Catholic Church in Channing. Fr. Dan Malone will offer the Mass of Christian Burial. Burial will be in the Channing Cemetery.
