Helen Ozzello

Helen M. Ozzello, 92, of Iron Mountain, passed away on Friday, June 3, 2011, at Freeman's Nursing and Rehabilitation Community in Kingsford with her family by her side. She was born on Nov. 20, 1918, in Iron Mountain, daughter of the late Sisto and Margaret (Ozzello) Remondini. She attended the Iron Mountain Schools, graduating from Iron Mountain High School in 1938. She was a lifelong resident of the area. Helen married Domenic Ozzello on Oct. 4, 1947, at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, and he preceded her in death on Sept. 25, 1974. Helen provided the love and guidance for her children that allowed them to have memorable and happy childhoods and productive adult lives. She was a very loving grandmother and great-grandmother. Helen is survived by her children, Deena (Patrick) Verrette of Iron Mountain and Stephen (Sandra) Ozzello of Jacksonville, Fla.; grandchildren, Andrea (Jason) Holman, Brenda (Kevin) Brown, Colleen (Keith) Hoffman and Katelyn and Stephen Ozzello; great- grandchildren, Emily, Andrew and Owen Holman; and Josh and Makenzie Brown; special siste-in-law, Delores Remondini of Escanaba; very special nieces, Donna Remondini and Kathy (Randy) Johnson both of Escanaba and Betty (Bud) Miller of Kingsford; a nephew, William (Marlene) Ozzello of Iron Mountain; and many other nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her brothers, Frank and John Remondini. In addition, the family would also like to thank Dr. Doug Villa for the genuine care he consistently provided for Helen, and the staff at Freeman's Rehabilitation and Nursing Center for their outstanding care and compassion. Visitation will be Tuesday from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. at the Erickson-Rochon & Nash Funeral Home in Iron Mountain. Funeral services will follow Tuesday at 5 p.m. at the funeral home. Rev. David Anderson will officiate. Burial will be in Iron Mountain Cemetery Park.
