Helen Anne Berlinski

Helen Anne Berlinski, 89, of Quinnesec, passed away on Thursday, December 11, 2014 at Freeman's Nursing and Rehabilitation Community in Kingsford. She was born on March 14, 1925 in Iron Mountain, daughter of the late Walter and Delphine (Labre) Alquist. She attended school in Quinnesec, graduating from Quinnesec High School in 1943. She was a lifelong resident of Quinnesec. She married Andrew "Andy" Berlinski, Sr. on September 22, 1944 in San Francisco, CA. He preceded her in death on March 21, 1994 after nearly 50 wonderful years together. Helen began working as the Deputy Treasurer, she then served as the Treasurer for Breitung Township for more than 25 years, retiring in 1992. She was a member of the American Martyr's Catholic Church. She was a former member of St. Mary's Church in Quinnesec, where she was part of the Altar Society and the St. Mary's Choir. She loved traveling and seeing the country in her motor home, and especially enjoyed staying in Arizona and visiting with Jim and Bob for the winters. She had a real zest for life, and loved to try new things. She was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Susan Berlinski; a son, Andy Berlinski Jr.; and her brothers, Bob and Phil Alquist. Helen is survived by her children, Dick (Cindy) Berlinski of Kingsford, Jim Berlinski (Bob Gauthier) of Mesa, Arizona, Tom (Diane) Berlinski of Gladstone, Anne (Robert) Ethington of Kingsford, Steve Berlinski Jackson, MI, Pat (Jennifer) Berlinski of Iron River; a daughter in-law, Sue Berlinski of Kingsford; a brother, John (Patricia) Alquist of Quinnesec; 12 grandchildren; 28 great grandchildren; 3 great great grandchildren. The visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 6, 2015 from 9:00 am to 10:30 am at the Erickson-Rochon and Nash Funeral Home in Iron Mountain. The funeral Mass will follow at 11: 00 am at the American Martyr's Catholic Church in Kingsford. Fr. Joseph Gouin will offer the Mass of Christian Burial. Burial will be in the Quinnesec Cemetery. In lieu of flowers a memorial will be established in her memory.
