Glenn E. Windell

Glenn E. Windell, 88 of Aurora, died Thursday, March 17, 2016 at Maryhill Manor in Niagara, with family at his side. He was born on Dec. 9, 1927 in Aurora, the son of the late Einar and Ann (Pearson) Windell. Glenn graduated from Kingsford High School in 1946. He was a dairy farmer and retired from the Florence County Highway Commission where he had worked for many years. He also served as the Road Commissioner for the Town of Aurora for twelve years. He was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church. Glenn enjoyed fishing, hunting, snowmobiling, and camping. He was also an avid reader until his eyesight failed. Most importantly, he enjoyed spending time with his family. He married the love of his life Marie Broullire on Sept. 11, 1954 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. For ten years prior to Glenn's stroke, the couple enjoyed spending their winters in Venice, FL. Glenn is survived by his devoted wife of sixty-one years, Marie, seven children Michael (Julie) Windell of Aurora, Laurie (Greg) Kaldor of Aurora, Martin Windell of Newcastle, WY, Cynthia (Jeff) Wenzel of Aurora, Elise (Terry) Neuens of Aurora, Cheryl (Doug) Neuens of Aurora, and Dawn Windell of Kingsford, one sister Eunice Barnes of Twin Falls, 26 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, and several step grandchildren and great grandchildren, six brothers-in-law, 7 sisters-in-law, and many nieces, and nephews. He was also expecting four great grandchildren this year. He was preceded in death by one sister Audrey Johnson, four brothers-in-law and one sister-in-law. Visitation will be Sunday from 4-7 pm and Monday from 9-10:15 am at the Kingsford Funeral Home. Funeral services will be on Monday at 11 am at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Father Joseph Gouin will celebrate the Mass of Christian Burial. Serving as pallbearers will be the oldest grandson from each family, Ryan Windell, Michael Bednarski, Andy Gibbons, Jason Neuens, Nick Neuens, and Alek Haag.
