Geraldine E. Carlson

Geraldine "Geri" Martinson Carlson 91,of Iron Mountain, passed away on Tuesday, May 26, 2015 at ManorCare Nursing Home following a five month illness. She was born August 21, 1923 in Gaastra, daughter of the late Louis and Florence (Deveroy) Bedard. She attended the Gaastra and Palatka schools, graduating from Stambaugh High School in 1940. She married Alfred Martinson on December 14, 1943 at the First Lutheran Church in Iron River, Michigan. He preceded her in death on December 11, 1995 shortly before their 55th wedding anniversary. She was also preceded in death by her brother, Robert Bedard and her sisters, Marilyn Horne and Joyce Williams and an infant sister, Merle. Geri moved to Kingsford and married John "Jack" Carlson on November 5, 2001 and has resided in Florida and the Iron Mountain area since. Geri attended Bay de Noc Community College and graduated in 1971 as a Licensed Practical Nurse. She enjoyed many years caring for her patients at the Crystal Falls Community Hospital and Iron River Nursing Home, retiring in 1993 at the age of 70. She enjoyed the outdoors and camping, volunteering for two summers as campground host at Norway Lake in the Ottawa National Forest. Geri is survived by her husband, John "Jack"; sons, Michael (Christine) Martinson of Iron River, Dennis (Christina) Martinson of Kingsford, her daughters, Kathie (Mark) DeClark of Niagara, Kristine Martinson of Plainwell, MI and Patti (Greg) Mindock of Richland, MI and Step daughters, Kristine (Bill) Barman and Deborah (Jim) Badge. She is further survived by grandchildren, Kelly (Jamie) Martinson, Kristin (Brian) Downie, Erin (Andrew) Buck, Eric (Fiance Megan) DeClark, Jared Mindock, Maygen Mianecki and Christopher Martinson; step grandchildren, Heath Condon, Nathan Paffrath, Michael Barman, Meridith (Stephen) Long, Mathew (Felicia) Barman, Scott (Megan) Palazolla and Kate (Ryan) Iarola; many great grandchildren and step great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Visitation will be at the Erickson-Rochon & Nash Funeral Home from 10:00-12:00 noon on Saturday, May 30, 2015. Funeral Services will be held at 12:00 noon Saturday at the Funeral Home. Rev. Walter Reichle will officiate. Burial will be in the Bates Twp. Cemetery. Condolences may be expressed to the family of Geraldine Carlson online at www.ernashfuneralhomes.com.
