Dorothy Mainville

KINGSFORD - Dorothy Ann Mainville, 80, of 906 Turner Road in Kingsford, died Thursday, Dec. 10, 2009, at Hyland Nursing Home. Dorothy was born on Aug. 22, 1929, in East Kingsford and was the daughter of the late Edward and Viola (Beaulier) Weinfurter. She was a 1948 graduate of Kingsford High School and after high school went to work for Michigan Bell Telephone. On May 6, 1950, she married Bernard J. Mainville at American Martyrs Church in Kingsford. Dorothy was a lifelong member of American Martyrs Church. At American Martyrs she served as an Eucharistic Minister and belonged to the St. Rita's Circle. Dorothy enjoyed doing ceramics and attended her ceramics class for more than 35 years. Later in her life, she went back to school and received her Nurses Aide certification. She finished her working career as a sales associate at JC Penney. Dorothy is survived by her husband, Bernard; her five children, Christine (Jack) Schettler of Breitung Township, Michael (Laura) Mainville of Breitung Township, Cynthia (Jon) Horenstein of Monroe, Mich., Cathy (Bill "Cliff") Pera of Kingsford and Mary Kay (Curt) McKenney of Duluth, Ga.; her brothers, Edwin (Donna) Weinfurter of Aurora, Wis., Vernon (Shirley) Weinfurter of Breitung Township, John "Ted" (Elizabeth) Weinfurter of Breitung Township, Robert (Nora) Weinfurter of Kingsford, Howard DeWayne (Pam) Weinfurter of Iron Mountain and Ronald (Joyce) Weinfurter of Breitung Township; her sister, Joyce (Peter) Quick of Milwaukee, Wis. and grandchildren, Jeffery (Jen) Schettler, Stacy Schettler, Michael (Teresa) Mainville, Angela (Neal) Jack, Gwenn Mainville, Nicholas Mainville, Benjamin Mainville, Alexandra Horenstein, Jonathan Horenstein, Julia Horenstein, Audra Pera, Emily Pera, Victoria McKenney and Christopher McKenney; eight great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Dorothy was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Katherine. Visitation will be Monday from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Erickson-Rochon & Nash Funeral Home. The funeral service will be Tuesday at 10 a.m. at American Martyrs Church in Kingsford. Fr. Joseph Gouin will offer the Mass of the Christian Burial. Burial will be in Dickinson County Memorial Gardens. Her grandsons will serve as pallbearers. In lieu of flowers, a memorial will be established in her memory.
