Donna L. Ohlsen

Donna Lou Ohlsen, 86, of Iron Mountain, passed away on Wednesday, February 12, 2020 at ManorCare Health Services in Kingsford. Donna was born May 19, 1933 in Iron Mountain, daughter of the late Walter and Selma (Swanson) Larson. She graduated from Iron Mountain High School in 1951 and was a lifelong resident of the area. Donna married her long time sweetheart, Harvey Ohlsen on September 12, 1953 at Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church in Iron Mountain. He preceded her in death in 1985. Donna worked for Lakeshore Inc. and then Cable Constructors where she became the executive secretary, working there for over 25 years. She retired in 1998. She was a member of Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church where she taught Sunday School for many years. Donna enjoyed coordinating monthly luncheons for her friends and fellow classmates as a way to keep in touch. She also enjoyed cooking, baking, reading, gardening, hunting and camping. Most of all, she loved spending time with family, especially her grandchildren whom she always spoiled and made feel special. Donna is survived by three sons, Hal (Elizabeth) Ohlsen of River Falls, WI, Scott (Diane) Ohlsen of Iron Mountain and Dan Ohlsen of River Falls, WI; 11 grandchildren, Carrin (Matt) Brookshaw, Hunter (Gina) Ohlsen, Hannah, Holden, Alexandra, Erin, Trevor, Lydia and Abbey Ohlsen, and Jordan & Landon Pugh; two great granddaughters, Regan & Kenna; one great granddaughter on the way; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, Donna was preceded in death by a sister and brother-in-law, Betty (Richard) Pardon. Visitation will be held Monday, February 17, 2020 from 10:00 am until 12:00 pm at Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church. Memorial services will follow at 12:00 pm at the church. Rev. Paul Strom will officiate. Burial will be in Iron Mountain Cemetery Park. Donna’s family would like to thank Dr. Ellen Van Laanen and Dr. Don Jacobs as well as all the staff at Evergreen Assisted Living, Maryhill Manor and ManorCare for the loving & compassionate care.
