Betty Pirlot

Betty E. Pirlot, 89, of Iron Mountain, died Sun. June 10, 2012 at Dickinson County Memorial Hospital. She was born on March 27, 1923 in Iron Mountain, the daughter of the late Clement and Sarah (Dishaw) LaRouche. Betty was born and raised in Frogtown and graduated from Iron Mountain High School in 1942. She was proud to say that she was a donut girl at Kresge's during World War II. She worked at Kresge's and then Ben Franklin, until her retirement in 1979. She married the love of her life, Robert "Bob" Pirlot on June 12, 1948 in the rectory of St. Mary and St. Joseph Catholic Church. He preceded her in death on Feb. 7, 1993. Betty died just in time to celebrate a heavenly wedding anniversary with Bob. Betty was an active member of St. Mary and St. Joseph Catholic Church, where she helped with many funeral lunches. She was also a member of the Daughters of Isabella. Betty enjoyed spending time at Dishaw's camp playing cards and going to the casino with her sister, Margie. Betty spent her summers at Way Dam Resort, camping with the Pirlot's and fishing. She loved all animals, especially her cat, Pita. She is survived by three children Mike Pirlot of Iron Mountain, Linda Coe of Iron Mountain, and Jeff (Bonnie) Pirlot of Kingsford, seven grandchildren Heather (Bill) Amundson of Killeen, TX, Jessica (Chris Hoppe) Pirlot of Green Bay, Brad (Stephanie) Coe of Iron Mountain, Jake Coe of Iron Mountain, Sarah (Brian) Mork of Pulaski, Chrissy (Adam) Panter of Grand Rapids, and Amanda Pirlot of Milwaukee, nine great grandchildren Kayla, Nicholas, and Gabby Amundson, Erika, Aidan, and Aubrey Coe, Ellianna Mork and Chloe and Hadley Panter, one great great grandson JoJo Amundson, two sisters-in-law Dorothy (Don) LaFountain of Way Dam and Geraldine Pirlot of Kingsford, one brother-in-law Harry (Fran) Pirlot, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by one sister Margie (Howard) Farragh, one son-in-law Arthur Coe, and 7 brothers and sisters-in-law Frank Pirlot, Mary Fiorucci, Myrtle VanMarter, Ray Pirlot, Roger Pirlot, Grace Cocking, and Howard Pirlot. Visitation will be Wed. from 10am-12 noon at St. Mary and St. Joseph Catholic Church. Funeral services will be Wed. at 12 noon at the church. Father Augustine Jacob will celebrate the Mass of Christian Burial. Burial will be in Cemetery Park. Pallbearers will be Betty's grandsons Brad and Jake Coe, her grandsons-in-law Brian Mork and Adam Panter, her cousin Tom Dishaw, and her nephew David Farragh.
