Betty Jones

Betty M. Jones, of Randville, passed away at home after suffering with multiple systems atrophy for seven years. She received the ultimate healing of eternal life in Jesus Christ on Dec. 31, 2010. Betty was born in Glen Arbor, Mich., and was the adoptive daughter of Harry and Olive Mitchell of Iron Mountain. She was a 1955 graduate of Iron Mountain High School. She married Vance W. Jones on Sept. 21, 1973, at the First Presbyterian Church in Iron Mountain. Betty was a member of First Presbyterian Church and served as the church secretary for many years. She was also a member of Felch Mountain Bible Chapel. Betty loved all outdoor activities and kept very busy with many interests and talents. She took great pride in keeping her home neat and clean inside and out. She enjoyed motorcycling, snowmobiling, traveling and gardening. Betty was a former 4-H leader and was an avid quilter and rock collector. She was very involved in the pit crew during their stock car racing days. Betty was also an excellent seamstress and tailor. Over the years, she made many dresses for weddings, proms and special events. She is survived by her husband, Vance; children, Kim (Rodney) Chartier of Kingsford, Julie (Gene) Sandona of Kingsford, Vicki (Scott) Schuelke of Homestead, Wis., Bobbi (Paul) Bennett of Iron Mountain and Traci (Roddy Bennetts) Hagadorn of Iron Mountain; stepson, Dean; brother, Melvin and sister, Ola of Muskegan; 17 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her mother-in-law and father in law, Wally and Myrtle Jones of Upper Pine Creek. She was preceded in death by her adoptive parents and a stepson, Darwin. Visitation will be Tuesday from 10 a.m. to 12 noon on Tuesday at Felch Mountain Bible Chapel . Memorial services will be held Tuesday at 12 noon at Felch Mountain Bible Chapel. Pastor Joe Basso will officiate. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the Felch Mountain Bible Chapel.
