Anna E. Wickman

Anna E. Wickman, 99, of Metropolitan, passed away on Sunday, March 8, 2015 at Victorian Pines Estates in Iron Mountain. She was born on February 5, 1916 in Princeton, MI., Daughter of the late Emil and Anna (Davidson) Johnson. Anna has lived in Metropolitan for most of her life and was a 1934 graduate of Felch High School. She married Alden J. Wickman in October of 1938 in Norway and they made their home in Metropolitan. In addition to raising 8 children, Anna raised three grandchildren. Alden preceded her in death on March 22, 1988. Anna was a baptized and confirmed life member of Zion Lutheran Church in Metropolitan and was active with the Women of Zion and Zion Quilters. Anna was devoted to her family and loved spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She enjoyed sewing, knitting and gardening. She was an excellent baker and her children returned from school to fresh baked goods. In addition to her parents and husband, Anna was preceded in death by an infant daughter Judy; son Keith and daughter-in-law Julie Wickman; son-in-law Don Wicklund; brothers, Evald (Lillian) Johnson, Odin (Ethel) Johnson and Raul Johnson; sisters, Dagney (Fred) Klement, Ruth (Harold) Gustafson, Margaret (Clem) Swearingen and Lucille (Jack) Thoma; in-laws Mildred (Pelky) Anderson, Muriel (Walter) Gustafson, Ann (Ben) Branback, Ted Nylund and Melvin Gungel. Anna is survived by her children, Alden "Yut" (Donna) Wickman of Greer, SC, Sally (Bill) Molli of Vonore, TN, David Wickman of Iron Mountain, Ruth Ann Wicklund of Iron Mountain, Betty (Chet) Dawson of Haslett, MI, Fredrick (Joni) Wickman of Garden Grove, CA, Janice (Steve) Peck of Huntington Beach, CA; fifteen grandchildren, Jason Wickman, Devon (Jeremy) Anderson, Eric (Renee) Wickman, Erin Carlson, Roger Wickman, Chance (Christen) Wicklund, Lea (Tim) Patterson, Anna (Gary) Carlson, Mary Volpe-Dawson, John Dawson, Nick (Krista) Poitras, Chris Poitras, Katelyn Wickman, Kelsey Peck and Robert Peck; sixteen great grandchildren, Hannah, Mark, Victoria, Evan, Mallory, Duran, Aleesha, Peyton, Liberty, Colton, Marcus, JuliAnn, Nikki, Gavin, Marin, Aidan; one great great grandson, Jeffrey; sisters, Edith Nylund and Dorothy Gungel; brother, Roger (Diane) Johnson and numerous nieces and nephews. The visitation will be held on Thursday, March 12, 2015 from 10:00-12:00 noon at Zion Lutheran Church in Metropolitan. Funeral services will immediately follow. Rev. Lee Liverance will officiate.
