Troy Alan West Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Troy Alan West, age 59, of Kingsford, passed away Wednesday, July 6th, 2022, at the Oscar G. Johnson VA Medical Center in Iron Mountain. He was born June 16th, 1963, in Iron Mountain, MI, to the late Sue Ann Overby and Leonard West. Troy was an avid Green Bay Packers and Detroit Tigers fan. He was also a huge nature and animal lover. His ability to train animals was truly a gift he inherited from his dad. He enjoyed spending time with his wife walking their dogs and camping at lake Antoine throughout the summer. He was a proud Marine and served his country from 1980-1983 as a heavy equipment mechanic at Camp Pendleton, CA. Troy had a larger than life heart and personality. His clever humor was known to everyone that knew him. Making others laugh was his favorite thing to do. He is survived by his wife, Heather Martin - West; daughter, Lindsey (Luke) Strupp; beloved granddaughter, Harlow Strupp; two brothers, Kevin West and Shad (Deelain) West; three sisters, Susie Polaske, Tiffany Overby, and Sandra West; and a special cousin, Kory Syrjanen-Johnson. He is preceded in death by his parents, favorite aunt Jean Syrjanen, and step-daughter Savannah Bal. Special thanks to the staff at the Community Living Center of the Iron Mountain VA for their compassionate care and support. A celebration of life will be planned by the family at a later date.
