Margaret "Mugs" Makowski
July 13, 1927 - June 7, 2022
Margaret “Mugs” J. Makowski, 94, peacefully passed away Tuesday, June 7, 2022, at Marshfield Health System Dickinson with her daughter at her side. Margaret was born July 13, 1927, to John and Laura Makowski and spent much of her younger years in Aurora, Wisconsin. She was a very thoughtful person who never forgot her family and friends for birthdays, Christmas or special occasions, giving a generous gift or a simple card. Margaret loved BINGO, going to the casino to play slots, spending time with her sisters over a cup of coffee or a beer, reminiscing and laughing, even bickering like siblings do. She didn’t travel much, but she did fulfill a dream of going to Nashville, Tennessee. She loved her many friends over the years: Dagney, Marie, Pauline, Anne, and Betty, just to name a few. She loved to dance; her country music was very special to her, way into her nineties. She loved the simple things, like a good cup of coffee, a bowl of Chili, or a piece of blueberry pie or anything pink. She had fond memories of her niece Cindy Ebidon and Bob cooking her a special meal at their home. Her greatest joy was spending time at her daughter’s for birthdays, holidays and cookouts while surrounded by her family and friends. Margaret is survived by her children, Debra (Greg) Bastian of Spread Eagle, WI, Brian Makowski of Las Vegas, NV, and Michael Makowski (Shelly) of Green Bay, WI; sisters, Lorraine Herzer of Powers, MI, and Lois Martin of Iron Mountain, MI; brother, Paul Makowski of Stevens Point, WI; grandchildren, Heidi (Eric) Boehmfeldt of Iron Mountain, MI, Jason Haberkorn of Florence, WI, Samantha (Kenneth) Graham of S. Carolina and Benjamin (Brook) Makowski of S. Carolina; step-grandchildren, Josh and Matt Bastian of Iron Mountain; many nieces and nephews; great-grandchildren, Lily, Linnea and Johnathon Boehmfeldt of Iron Mountain, Ethan and Ashton Haberkorn of Florence, WI, Allison and Anthony Graham of S. Carolina and Colton Makowski of S. Carolina; step-great-grandchildren, Hanna and Kalub Bastion of Iron Mountain. She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Laura Makowski; a brother, John, his wife, Helen and daughters Barbara and Jeanie; a nephew, Randy and niece, Laurie Martin; a special companion, Leonard Gilbert; and a special cousin and friend, Ann Broullire. Per Margaret’s wishes there are no services. Rest in peace, Mom. Condolences to the family of Margaret J.
