Lita Jean Bengtson
October 18, 1950 - January 29, 2022
Lita J. Bengtson went to be with her Lord & Savior on Saturday, January 29, 2022, at her home. Lita was born on October 18, 1950, in Iron Mountain, the daughter of William and Margaret (Skoglund) Uren. She graduated from Iron Mountain High School in 1969 and married William J. Bengtson in 1973. Upon graduation Lita worked at Nelson Paints and then had numerous part-time jobs, working for Drs. Suino, Baker and Neil Johnson, and as a desk clerk at Comfort Inn. She loved each one and got to meet so many that were special to her through her jobs. Lita was a wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and best friend to many, and she always made everyone feel welcome in her home. Above all, her Lord & Savior was the ultimate part of her life. She attended the Evangelical Covenant Church in Norway. Lita had a servant’s heart, but in her later years her health limited her ability to serve; still, she always kept those in need in prayer. She loved her church family, especially Pastor Jim & Shelly Danielson. She is fondly remembered for her first-rate spaghetti sauce, her trademark authentic pasties, and especially for her famous salsa, all the best. Lita is survived by her husband of 48 years, Bill; sons, Scott (Krista) Bengtson and Brian (Tammy) Bengtson both of Sheboygan, WI; her brother, Bill Uren of Iron Mountain; two sisters, Ann Bolander of Kingsford and twin sister, Linda (Wayne) Makela of Iron Mountain; brother-in-law, Jim (Gwen) Bengtson of Minnesota; her grandchildren, Brooke, Paeyton, Tyler, Amber, Lennon, Ashley, Hannah and Madison; and great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and her mother-in-law, Gladys Bengtson; two sisters, Janet Lidbeck and Carol Schettler; a brother, Donald Uren; and brothers-in-law, Duane Lidbeck, Donald Schettler, and David Bolander. She will be greatly missed by her many nieces, nephews and their families, and so many friends, too numerous to name, who loved her dearly. At her request no memorial service will be held at this time. A celebration of her life will likely be planned to take place sometime this spring. Arrangements are being made by the Erickson-Rochon and Nash Funeral Home. Condolences may be expressed to the family of Lita J. Bengtson online at www.ernashfuneralhomes.com.
