Judy A. Johnson Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Judy A. Johnson (Thompson/Droese), age 83, of 1309 W. C St. Iron Mountain, Michigan, passed peacefully June 25, 2022 at Froedtert Hospital in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Judy was born May 12, 1939 in Sparta, Wisconsin, the daughter of the late Clayton and Meta (Baumbach) Thompson. Judy attended schools in Madison, Richland Center, and Sheboygan, Wisconsin and Iron Mountain, Michigan, where she graduated in 1957. She attended Northern Michigan University where she received a Bachelor of Science degree in 1961. Upon graduation, she taught 2nd grade for one year in Arlington Heights, Illinois. Judy moved back to Iron Mountain with her two sons, Thomas and David Droese in 1966, where she taught kindergarten for 33 years for Breitung Township School System. She retired June 1999. Judy was a joy to be around, and full of life. She was the most selfless, caring, and loving person. Judy put her heart into everything she did. For being 5’ 1” she was the spunkiest and strongest person in the room. She loved to have fun and entertain at her home. To Judy, family was the most important thing in her life. Her family also included her friends. Her kindness and generosity will be remembered and missed. She was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church, Pine Grove Country Club, and MEA and NEA for many years. She enjoyed traveling, shopping, golfing, spending time with friends and family. Judy leaves two sons, Thomas (Lorrie) Droese of Appleton, Wisconsin, and David (René) Droese of Port Charlotte, Florida; grandchildren—Elizabeth (Dan) Paoli, Dan Droese, Josh Droese, Emily (Mike) Miller, Paul (Jess) Droese, Victoria Droese, Nicole Droese, Matt (Amanda) Bicigo, Darren (Chelsea) Bicigo, Drake Griggs; great-grandchildren—Mason, Maddox, and Gabbi Paoli, Bennet and Lilyan Bicigo, Matthew Smith, Colin Kulik, Nala Droese, Emery Droese, and Blake Miller; and her beloved dog, Bella. A memorial service will be held at Trinity United Methodist Church at 3:00PM, Tuesday, June 28, 2022 with Pastor Irene White officiating. In lieu of flowers, donate to your favorite charity in memory of her or “Almost Home” animal shelter in Quinnesec, Michigan.
