Joseph W. Church

Joseph W. Church, 60, of Homestead, WI, passed away Tuesday, December 7, 2021. He was born on February 23, 1961 in Iron Mountain, son of the late Gordon and Helen (Czech) Church. Joe graduated from Florence High School in 1979 and worked in the woods logging since age 14. He was employed at the Niagara Paper Mill for 26 years. When the mill closed, Joe started a logging business and spent his recent years working in the woods as a logger. He was an elite sawyer and an avid hunter and trapper. Joe was a member of Knights of Columbus Council #2847 of Niagara, WI, for 37 years. He was also a member of the American Tree Farm Association, the Homestead Conservation Club, Boy Scouts of America and Snowmobile Club. Most importantly, Joe loved his family, his dogs and was a good friend to many. He was the “Best Dad” and deeply cared for his daughter, Lacey, his son, Warren and his girlfriend, Jane. He will be sadly missed by all who knew him. Joe is survived by his son, Warren; his daughter, Lacey Church of Aurora; his girlfriend, Jane Weber of Homestead, WI; his siblings, Juanita Carlson (David Burgess), Lawrence Kansas, Marilyn (Bill) Vassar of Aurora, WI, Pat Church of Iron Mountain, MI, Fran (Andy) Herman of Niagara, WI, Veronica Church of Niagara, WI, Gerard (Linda) Church of Homestead, WI, and Jon Church of Stephenson, MI. He is further survived by a sister-in-law, Jackie Church (Rob Cristan) of Armstrong Creek, WI; brother-in-law, Ray Mianecki of Green Bay, WI; many nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Gordon and Helen Church; his brother, Peter; and his sister, Kathy. Visitation will be held from 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm on Sunday, December 12, at the Erickson-Rochon & Nash Funeral Home in Iron Mountain. Funeral services to follow at 3:00 pm at the funeral home. Fr. Joseph Gouin will officiate.
