James Lee Kersting

James “Jim” Kersting, 71, of Kingsford passed away on April 4, 2022. Born June 28, 1950, to Myron and Blanche Kersting in Sioux City, Iowa. His father was in the Air Force for 24 years and as a result James attended schools in many locations including: Georgia, Texas, Iowa, Okinawa, and Michigan. He graduated from Oakland University in Rochester, MI, and worked for 37 years as a Perfusionist in open heart surgery in Michigan, Minnesota, Idaho, Montana, Wisconsin, and Newfoundland, in addition to teaching and lecturing throughout the United States. Jim is survived by his daughter, Emily (Gideon) Ladd, and a brother, Gary Kersting. He was preceded in death by his parents; grandparents, John and Elizabeth Kersting and Clemens and Catherine Beierman; and an infant brother, Terry Lynn Kersting. Jim was highly regarded in his profession for his kind and compassionate care. He enjoyed playing guitar, skiing and bird watching. He suffered two strokes in 2008 and 2009 in addition to having brain surgery because of the strokes. Following his strokes, he returned to Michigan where he resided at Evergreen Independent Living until his death. Due to his wishes, private family services will be held.
