Gloria "Dolly" M. Johnson

Gloria M. “Dolly” Johnson, 76, of Kingsford, Michigan, passed away Saturday, November 27, 2021, at Dickinson County Healthcare System in Iron Mountain, Michigan. Gloria was born March 24, 1945, in Green Bay, WI, the daughter of the late Domenic and Marvel (Leslie) Izzo. Gloria married Eldon “Mickey” Johnson on August 10, 1971 at St. Mary & St. Joseph Catholic Church in Iron Mountain, Michigan. A local resident of the area most of her life, except for eight years when she resided in Florida. She was a very proud alumni of St. Mary and St. Joseph Catholic School in Iron Mountain. Dolly enjoyed all her various jobs including Greeter at WalMart; Skerbeck worker at the Dickinson County Fair; caretaker at Washington Court Apartments; local cab driver; Khoury worker; courier driver; Tela Service in Florida; and Kempfers Market in Florida-where she catered weddings, funerals, and made pasties for a celebrity! She loved to play cards, feed the birds, watch wildlife, camping and fishing. Dolly enjoyed sewing pillows, quilts, animal toys and making her crafts which she loved to donate. One of her favorite pastimes was fixing small appliances and electronics. Her passion was cooking and baking for others, especially pasties. She liked to argue with her daughters! Most importantly, Dolly’s greatest joy was family gatherings. Her favorite part was making and serving the food for these get-togethers. Dolly was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, Iron Mountain, MI. She is survived by her two daughters, Melinda Harvala and Marie Morris of Kingsford; two step-daughters, Cheryl and Karen; son-in-law Steve Harvala; 15 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; her sister-in-law/friend Dolores Hamby; two special caregiving nieces, Cathy and Linda; several nieces, nephews and cousins; numerous great nieces and nephews; along with special friends Beverly “Dolly” Leslie of Stanton, Michigan, Carol Rickert/Aiken of Melbourne, Florida, Susie, Tammy (bookkeeper), Karen, Jeanie, Pat, Marleen, Janny, many other friends; and her beloved dog Sassie. Gloria was preceded in death by her husband, Eldon; an infant son, Gerald Edward Morris; 3 grandchildren, all of her siblings, Barbara (Earl) Tippett, Ferdinand Tauscheck, Robert (Ilamae) Tauscheck, Patricia Watson, and Domenic (Sue) Izzo, Jr, and her beloved dog Tiny.
