Gerald “Jerry” Carollo, 86, of Iron Mountain, passed away on Friday, April 8, 2022 at UP Healthsystem Marquette. Jerry was born January 23, 1936 in Iron Mountain, son of the late Joseph and Mary (Lupini) Carollo. He graduated from Iron Mountain High School in 1954 and was a lifelong resident of the area. Jerry was a veteran of the United States Navy where he served his country for four years. Following his honorable discharge from the Navy, Jerry continued to serve in the National Guard for eight years. On April 11, 1964 Jerry married Geraldine Dario at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Iron Mountain. He was employed with the United States Postal Service for 24 years, retiring in 1998. Jerry was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending time at the family cottage. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather and absolutely adored his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Jerry is survived by his wife of 58 years, Geraldine, four children, Annette “Netty” (Steve) Kiekover of Spring Lake, MI, Patti Carollo of Kingsford, James Carollo of Dallas, TX and Steve (Monica) Carollo of Long Grove, IL; six grandchildren, Nick Rugg, Scott Rugg (fiance, Abbie) and Ashley, A.J., Jared and Breanna Carollo ; two great granddaughters, Kylie and Makenna; and a brother, Thomas Carollo. In addition to his parents, Jerry was preceded in death by a brother, Glenn Carollo and a sister, Susan Lewis. In accordance with Jerry’s wishes, private family services will be held. Burial will be in Iron Mountain Cemetery Park.
