Dolores Tarenski, 89, of Niagara, Wis., died Monday, Aug. 23, 2021, at Maryhill Manor Nursing Home in Niagara. Dolores was born in Niagara on May 7, 1932, the second of four children to Andrew J. and Mary (Marcella) Chamberlain. Her father, Andy, was a Police Officer for the Village of Niagara for over 30 years. Dolores went to Niagara Public School and graduated from Niagara High School in 1950. After graduation, while working in Chicago, Dolores met Peter J. Tarenski at a Chicago indoor ice-skating rink in February 1952. Dolores and Pete were married on Thanksgiving Day, Nov. 27, 1952, at St. Anthony's Catholic Church, Niagara. Shortly after, Pete was sent overseas to Korea via the Army Draft to serve in the Korean War, and Dolores went to live with her parents in Niagara, working as a Secretary for the Perfex Corporation, Aeronautical Instrument Division, Iron Mountain, Mich., during Pete's deployment. After Pete's return from his two years of service, Dolores and Pete lived first in Chicago then Des Plaines, III. In Nov. 2001, they moved to Niagara. Dolores was an excellent cook and baker. In Sept. 1988, Dolores entered the American Heart Association of Metropolitan Chicago - Food Festival - Heart-Healthy Cookie Recipe Contest. The contest was judged by 10 Chicago-area celebrity judges which included local restaurant chefs and high-profile media personalities. The contest judging was held in the Marshall Field's State Street Store, in front of a sizable crowd, with the contest being covered by all local news media. Dolores' oatmeal cookie recipe was the winning recipe that beat out the 25 finalists that emerged out of over 100 entries, and Dolores won the competition's first-place prize of an all-expense-paid trip to a first-class resort in Phoenix, Arizona. Dolores is survived by two daughters, Laura Tarenski of Niagara, and Caryn (Bill) Murphy of Round Lake Beach, III., a son, Paul Tarenski of Niagara, a granddaughter, Allison Murphy (Harrison Garo) of Highland Park, III., a grandson, John Murphy (Cassie Coffman) of Millcreek, Utah, two great-grandsons, Liam Garo and Evan Garo of Highland Park, two sisters-in-law, Ethel Chamberlain of Wisconsin Rapids, Wis., and Lorraine (Bill) Lax of Elgin, III., and five nieces and two nephews. Dolores is preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Peter J. Tarenski, her parents, Andrew "Andy" and Mary "Mamie" Chamberlain, one sister, LaVerne Quick, two brothers, Howard Chamberlain and Marvin Chamberlain, her parents-in-law, Peter P. and Josephine (Jedrasek) Tarenski, a brother-in-law, Leroy "Bud" Quick, two sisters-in-law, Arline Tarenski and Dorothy McCarthy, and one nephew, Mike J. Quick. Visitation will be at Erickson-Rochon & Nash Funeral Home, 901 Carpenter Ave, from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 7, 2022, with Rev.
