Carrie C. Olsen
May 2, 1969 - October 9, 2021
Carrie Catherine Olsen Age 52 Minneapolis, Minnesota October 9, 2021 Preceded in death by her parents, Yvonne and John Urheim. Survived by husband Michael, son Hudson, daughter My Linh, sister Whitney Leon, and step-mother Maxine Urheim. Carrie was a kind and gentle person of faith. Her love for Christ was the center of her life. She was a loving and devoted wife of 28 years, a wonderful mother, daughter, sister, and loyal friend. Carrie attended Bethel College from 1988 to 1992 where she and Mike met and fell in love. Carrie and Mike were married in 1993 and settled in the Twin Cities. Carrie was a registered nurse and worked in public health up until she and Mike adopted Hudson in 1997. Carrie became a mother again in 2000 when My Linh was adopted into their family. Carrie had seemingly limitless compassion for others. Carrie was an active member of Immanuel Baptist Church in Minneapolis where she developed lasting and deep friendships which filled her with joy. Her circle of friends continued to grow when Immanuel merged with Central Community Church to become City View Church in 2010. Carrie had close and loving relationships with her elder sister, Whitney, and her step-mother, Maxine. Carrie also loved her expansive extended family of cousins, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and in-laws -- she took great joy from spending time with them all. Carrie loved to create beauty through painting, decorating, and landscaping. She adopted three dogs over the years and loved them very much. She loved to spend time with her family and friends on the farm or at the family cabin in Wisconsin, or visiting her extended family in Iowa. She lived a full and adventurous life, traveling twice to Vietnam with Mike to adopt Hudson and My Linh, visiting South America and Europe, and living in Kenya for two years with her family. Following her diagnosis of metastatic breast cancer in 2016, she and Mike purchased a camper and spent many restful days enjoying beautiful places together, and traveling to visit family and friends. Carrie was tenaciously loving in her relationships. She refused to allow small things or misunderstandings to come between her and the people that she loved. She was graceful, pure, and kind. She had an innocent heart that drew so many to her. She suffered bravely, patiently, and gracefully. Her soul emerged as brilliant as the sun. She will forever be missed. Visitation will be at Homestead Baptist Church 2670 Co. Hwy N. Homestead, WI, Saturday October 16, 2021 from 9:00 AM until 11:00 AM. The service will follow at 11:00 AM at the Church.
