Barbara Ann Caruso

October 25, 1934 - November 5, 2021

Barbara Ann Caruso, 87, of Iron Mountain passed away Friday, November 5, 2021, at ManorCare HCR in Kingsford. Barbara was born October 25, 1934, in Milwaukee, WI, the daughter of Frank and Agnes (Litzau) Stelloh. She married John Caruso, Jr. on June 21, 1952 and celebrated their 61st wedding anniversary shortly before his passing in 2013. They built a home in Racine County in 1963 where they raised their three children and lived until they retired in 1983. Upon retirement they returned to John's hometown of Iron Mountain and built their retirement home on Twin Falls Road in Breitung Township. Barbara had a compassionate heart and always had time for a friend in need. Whether it was just listening or giving someone a bed to sleep in, her door was always open. Over the years Barbara worked many jobs, including spending 13 years as a receptionist at the Crystal Lake Community Center in Iron Mountain. She also taught CCD for 12 years. She loved traveling with friends and family. She enjoyed knitting, reading, playing Sheepshead, board games, cards, dice, Bingo, and going to the casino. She is survived by her children, Rosanne Caruso of Iron Mountain, Karen (Gary) Thompson of Iron Mountain, and Connie (Glenn) Marifke of Spread Eagle; a brother, Richard (Shirley) Stelloh of Milwaukee, WI; six grandchildren, Joshua Weaver, Ryan (Robyn) Livingston, Brian (Samantha) Marifke, Lori (Samuel) Osieczonek, Amanda Weaver, and Jonathan (Michelle) Thompson; and 11 great-grandchildren. Barbara was preceded in death by her loving husband, John; their son, Billy Joe Caruso; a granddaughter, Melissa Marifke; eight brothers and sisters; and a brother-in-law. Visitation will be 11:00 am - 1:00 pm on Thursday, November 11, 2021, at Erickson-Rochon & Nash Funeral Home in Iron Mountain with a funeral service to follow at 1:00 pm at the funeral home. Fr. Joseph Gouin will officiate. The burial will be at Southern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Union Grove, WI.
