Wilma M. Dabb

Wilma Marie Dabb, 92, of Kingsford, passed away on Tuesday, May 31, 2016 at her home. Wilma was born on June 15, 1923 in Elkhart, Indiana, daughter of the late Harvey and Ida (Harder) Stauffer. She moved to Niagara in 1924 and was a 1942 graduate of Niagara High School. Wilma married the love of her life, John Edward Dabb on September 19, 1942. They moved to Kingsford and were residents there through 59 years of marriage. John preceded her in death on November 24, 2001. Wilma worked in housekeeping at ManorCare Nursing Home in Kingsford until her retirement at the age of 69. She also operated the Kingsford Ice Skating Rink for many years. Wilma loved all children so much, and they loved her back. She got great joy from giving all the children hot chocolate and popcorn to enjoy as they skated. Wilma also enjoyed, camping, fishing and being outdoors with her family. Another enjoyment she had was gardening. She would have a huge garden and grow big beautiful flowers every year. To her family, she was the best wife, mother and grandmother. Wilma was an excellent cook and baker. She loved to cook and bake for everyone and was well known for her special baked beans. In addition to her husband John, Wilma was preceded in death by her daughter, Geraldine Phyllis Allen in 1995; her son, Thomas John Dabb 1973; two sisters, Edna La Gest and Lita Hallgren and a brother, Ralph Stauffer. She is survived by her daughter, Debbie (Donald) Bjorkman of Kingsford; grandchildren, Dawn (Michael) Bjorkman-Manowski, Nicole (David) Blomquist, Jason (Chrissy) Bjorkman, Tammy (Dan) Peterson, Terrie (Mark) Rug, Jamie Dabb, Johnnie (Melainie) Dabb and Tom Knutson. Many great grandchildren and nieces and nephews including a special niece, Mary Ann VanGinkle; also by her two best friends, May Chartier and Jean Oman. Graveside Memorial services will be held on Friday, June 10, 2016 at 11:00am from Dickinson County Memorial Gardens. Rev. Thomas Mackey will officiate. Burial will be in Dickinson County Memorial Gardens next to her Husband John.
