William M. Lindstrom William "Bill" Lindstrom , 74, of Spread Eagle passed away on Sunday, January 10, 2016 at his home after a 2 1/2 year battle with cancer. He was born on October 2, 1941 in Iron Mountain, son of the late Roy and Dorothy (Safstrom) Lindstrom. Bill attended school in Iron Mountain, graduating from Iron Mountain High School in 1959. He married Bonita "Bonnie" Montowski in Des Plaines, Illinois on March 8, 1974, and they have spent nearly 42 wonderful years together. Bill began his working career with General Controls in Iron Mountain. He moved with General Controls to Illinois and continued his career as a supervisor for City Products. Bill moved back to the area in 1977, taking a job at Pentair Paper Company in Niagara, before going to work at Northpointe Behavioral System, a job that left him very fulfilled at the end of the day. After returning with his family to this area, he found his Aunt's cottage on the Spread Eagle chain for sale, and purchased it. He loved his home on the water, and took full advantage of all that it had to offer, from working around the house, to fishing, swimming and boating. He was a faithful member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church and was an avid Green Bay Packer fan. Bill is survived by his loving wife, Bonnie ; his son, David (Karen) Lindstrom of Austin, Texas; his daughters, Sherrie and Cindy; his granddaughters, Kyla and Kate Lindstrom and his Aunt Lucille Carlson of Norway; he is further survived by several nieces, nephews and cousins, including a special nephew, James Taylor and a special friend, Swede Carlson. He was preceded in death by a brother, Jim Lindstrom and a sister, Barbara Liddle. A Memorial Mass will take place on Thursday, January 21, 2016 at 11:00 am at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Iron Mountain. Fr. Raymond Valerio will offer the Mass of Christian Burial. Burial will be in Iron Mountain Cemetery Park. In lieu of flowers, a memorial will be established in his memory.
