Violet I. Dodd

Violet I. Dodd, 89, formerly of Niagara, WI, passed away on Tuesday, February 17, 2015at Hyland Nursing Home in Iron Mountain. She was born March 26, 1925 the daughter of the late Axel and Edla (Carlson) Hagberg. Violet graduated from Niagara High School and was employed at the Niagara paper mill for twenty years. She was preceded in death by her late husband, Dennis Dodd, whom she married January 24, 1948. Violet was a life-long member of First Lutheran Church of Iron Mountain where she taught Sunday School, was a former council member, and still belonged to a women's circle of the church. She loved getting together with family and is known for her love of playing cards and her great sense of humor. She also enjoyed traveling the country with her sister Selma, reading, tending flowers, and bird watching. She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, and friend and will be sadly missed by all. Violet is survived by her two sons; Douglas (Linda) Dodd of Iron Mountain and Jeff (Sarah) Dodd of Eland, WI, three grandsons, David Dodd of Columbus, WI, Daren Dodd of Powell, WY, and Ryan Dodd of California. She also leaves three beloved nephews, Herbert (Sharon) Hagberg, Thomas Hagberg, and Russell Hagberg. In addition to her parents and husband, Violet was also preceded in death by a brother, Axel Hagberg; a sister, Selma Hagberg; and a nephew, Roger Hagberg. Visitation will be held on Saturday from 10:00 to 11:00 am at First Lutheran Church of Iron Mountain. A memorial service for her homegoing will immediately follow at 11:00 am at the church. Pastor James Lindgren will officiate. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the First Lutheran Church. The family would like to thank Hyland Nursing Home for the exceptional love and care that they provided Violet during her stay there. They just loved her sense of humor and how she and her sister Selma would eat together and then take a walk together each evening.
