Valarie Lynn Peterson

DON'T CRY BECAUSE IT'S OVER. SMILE BECAUSE IT HAPPENED. Our family is saddened to announce the passing of our family matriarch. Valarie Lynn Peterson, 41, of Florence, WI, passed away at her home surrounded by family on Saturday, February 22nd. Valarie was born on March 15th, 1983, in Green Bay, WI, to Jeff and the late Rose (Moller) Sternhagen. Val grew up in Fern, WI, and graduated from Florence High School in 2001. She would be quick to remind you that her girls basketball team went to state that year. Val was a standout athlete in any sport she participated in and will always be remembered as the best trout fisherwoman you knew. Val married her husband TJ Peterson on September 24th, 2005; together they raised 2 beautiful daughters and built a home on Val's grandfather's farm. Val was always proud that she kept her promise to her Grandfather Darwin that she would live there. When asked what her greatest accomplishment was she was quick to say "My kids". Val will always be remembered for being a great mother, wife, daughter, sister , niece, and best friend to all who knew her. Val's love of fishing was second to none, and she cherished her fishing trips to Canada and hunting trips to Missouri. Val is survived by her husband, TJ Peterson; daughters, Victoria and Ashley Peterson; her father, Jeff Sternhagen; a brother, Ross (Terrilynn) Sternhagen; a sister, Kim Sternhagen; her nephews, Gunner, Colt, Bo, Jace, Caleb, and Brett; one niece, Brynn; and several aunts, uncles, and cousins. In addition to her mother Rose, Val was preceded in death by her grandparents, Darwin and Florence (Hedmark) Sternhagen; grandparents, Jerome and Delores Moller; uncles, Bruce, Mark, Charles, and Perry Moller; and one aunt, Amy Moller. Pallbearers will be as follows: Eric WIndell, Ben Neuens, Justin Korff, Bill Monteith and the members of the Witynski hunting camp. Visitation will be from 10 am until noon on Saturday, March 1st, 2025, at St John's Lutheran Church in Florence, WI. A short service will follow at noon, and a luncheon will be held after the service at the One O One Bar and Grill in Florence, WI.
