Thomas O. Marheine

Thomas O. Marheine, 84, of Hardwood, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, September 2, 2022 at the Marshfield Medical Center - Dickinson in Iron Mountain, Michigan. Tom was born November 12, 1937 in Kingsford, son of the late Walter and Florence (Crowell) Marheine. He graduated from Felch High School in 1955 and married Maureen Cary on August 18, 1956 at Mission Covenant Church in Foster City. Tom and Maureen moved to Kimberly, WI shortly after getting married, where Tom took a job at the Kimberly Clark paper mill working with his two brothers. After spending nine years in Kimberly, they moved back to Hardwood and purchased the family store, Marheine’s Grocery, from Tom’s parents, which they owned and operated for 26 years. Tom also worked as a drywall installer for Tousignant Drywall for over 30 years. Tom was married for 66 years to Maureen who was the love of his life and they were joined at the hip. He loved spending time with his family and friends new and old sharing a Busch Light and a story. Tom and Maureen traveled throughout the U.S. in their Conversion Van and enjoyed many other trips with family and friends, including cruises, hunting trips and fishing excursions. They wintered in Texas for the past 29 years and he will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. Tom is survived by his wife of 66 years, Maureen; three children, Becky (Jeff) Bianco of Hardwood, Tedd (Karen) Marheine of Iron River and Diana Marheine of Sugar Camp, WI; six grandchildren, Mandy (Travis) Gustafson, Andrea (Matt) Lubejko, Amber (J.J.) Fende, Shane (Alyssa) Marheine, Tricia (Kyle) Nelson, and Alayna (Brian) Colombino; 11 great grandchildren, Jeffrey, Jordan, Nora, Lydia, Mason, Maddie, McKenzie, Blair, Brooks, Isabel & Paul; and many wonderful nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Larry and Jim Marheine; and a sister, Florance “Sis” Burgess. At Tom’s request, there will be no services held.
