Steven Duane Lorge

Steven Duane Lorge, 66, passed away peacefully at his home in Quinnesec, Michigan on Monday, August 15th, 2021. Steve was born May 2, 1955, in Ishpeming, Michigan, the son of Leonard and Helen Lorge. He was a professional truck driver, an over-the-road trucker for more than 40 years. Steve was an excellent long-haul truck driver and took much pride in the trucks he drove and the extraordinary driving skills he had. Early in his trucking career he occasionally took his entire family with him to show them the sites of America. He was also a gun enthusiast who enjoyed collecting handguns and target shooting with his friends. He enjoyed gunsmithing, reloading ammunition, and hunting. He also loved tending to his lawn, which was meticulously groomed. Steve met Kay at KSR Trucking Company where he was a long haul driver and Kay was an office worker. The neatness of the handwriting he left on his paperwork was noticed by Kay, who also has exceptional penmanship. That simple commonality led to their first date. Steve and Kay are members of First United Presbyterian Church in Kingsford and were married on June 30, 2012 in a beautiful outdoor ceremony at Glidden Lake. Steve is survived by his wife, Kay (Rabenberg) Lorge of Quinnesec; his father, Leonard (Linda) Lorge of Florida; his son, Chris (Kelly) Lorge of Ishpeming; his daughter, Tori Ann (Chad) Johnson of Kalamazoo; his sister, Cheryl (Jack) Slye of Escanaba; his stepdaughter, Celina Pietrzyk of Kingsford; a half-brother, Gregory (Blaire) Alsup of Florida; a sister-in-law, Christine Lorge of South Carolina; and many nieces, nephews, and grandchildren. Steve was preceded in death by his grandparents, John & Sara Majestic; his mother, Helen Ann Lorge Alsup; a brother, Robert Lorge; and a daughter, Lindsay Marie Lorge. Visitation will be on Friday, August 20, 2021 at 10:00 am at First United Presbyterian Church of Kingsford. The funeral service will follow at 11:00 am at the church. Rev. Michael March will officiate.
