Sister Anne Marie of the Eucharist, OCD, (Rose Therese Shadeg), 88, a member of the Carmelite Community, died August 12, 2019, at Dickinson County Memorial Hospital. Sister Anne Marie was born July 6, 1931, in Farming, MN, daughter of the late Henry and Rose Shadeg. She is survived by two sisters, Mildred Shadeg and Esther Turbak. She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Rose Shadeg, and six brothers and five sisters: Oscar Shadeg, Dorothy (Joseph) Stommes, Sr. M. DeBritto, OSB, Henry ( Teresa) Shadeg, Alfred (Leona) Shadeg, Fr. Thomas Shadeg, Fr. Werner Shadeg, SVD, Sr. Mary Rose, PCC, Fr. Norbert Shadeg, SVD, Sr. M. Clare, OSB and Sr. Mary Carmel, OCD. Our dear Sister Anne Marie was among the early vocations that blessed our newly founded Carmelite Monastery on "East B Street" ensuring its growth and stability, entering on October 3, 1953. Small in size (being only 4ft. 11 inches at age 22 and shrinking with the years), she nonetheless possessed a heart big and wide enough to encompass with her love and prayers not only our Community, her family and friends, but also everyone whom she came in contact with through answering the phone or the many letters we receive daily. Her sincere concern and gentle, compassionate way of dealing with others made them feel their needs and intentions were truly important to her and to us. Sister Anne Marie made her First Profession of Vows on May 29, 1955 and her Solemn Vows three years later. Somewhat quiet and reserved by nature, Sister had a good sense of humor and often with a twinkle in her eye, entered fully into all aspects of our Carmelite life with much energy and good will. In fact, we often teased her about how quickly she did whatever she had to do - certainly not a last minute person! Very capable and conscientious, Sister Anne Marie served the Community in various ways including Subprioress, Council Sister and Novice Mistress. We will certainly miss her simple, prayerful presence among us, even though we know and believe that she will not forget us now that she is with the Lord-Whom she loved with all her heart and soul and Who has now called her to Himself. Visitation will be Sunday, August 18th, from 5:00-7:00 pm in the Monastery Chapel. A public prayer service will be held at 7:00 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at the Monastery Chapel by Father Daniel Moll and Concelebrants, on Monday, August 19th at 10:00 am CT. Burial will be in the Carmelite Monastery Cemetery. Memorials or Masses may be offered to the Carmelite Monastery in lieu of flowers.
