Shirley A. Pancheri

Iron Mountain Shirley Pancheri, 89 of Iron Mountain, passed peacefully on Friday, March 30th surrounded by her family at ManorCare Nursing Home. Shirley was born in Kingsford in 1928, daughter of the late Joseph and Genevieve (Boncher) Bouffiou. She attended schools in Kingsford and graduated from high school in 1946. She married John Pancheri in 1948. She and John had six children and after they were all in school, she went to work for the Dickinson-Iron Intermediate School District and retired in 1989 after more than twenty years as an early childhood teacher. Whether Shirl was enjoying a game of cribbage with neighborhood moms, or smear on the weekends with relatives and later, casino trips throughout the mid west, Shirl loved to play games. She also enjoyed bowling and softball with her sisters and friends in the earlier years. She even took up golf in her retirement. Shirl was a lifelong member of St. Mary and St. Joseph Church in Iron Mountain. She was preceded in death by her husband John in 2008 ;four brothers, Donald, Joseph, Elwood and Eugene Bouffiou; four sisters, Evelyn Hosking, Beverly Hosking, twin sister Dorothy Calo and Donna Olson. Shirley is survived by her six children, Jack (Julie) Pancheri of Iron Mountain , Steve (Anna Fox) Pancheri of Quinnesec, Barbara (Dennis) Bailey of Iron Mountain, Scott (Brenda) Pancheri of Iron Mountain, Jenny (Jeff) Crosson of Kingsford , Roberta (Robert) LaFave of Escanaba; nineteen grandchildren, Jamie (Bridget) Pancheri, Matt (Sarah) Pancheri, Brooke (Jacob) Walstrom, Daymon Pancheri, Melissa (Scott) Rutter, Marcine (Michael) Petruska, Brendan (Jackie Horton)Pancheri, Brittany (Chad) DeGroot, Sarah (Jason) Ebertsch, Jon Qualley, C.J. Qualley, Courtney Qualley, Alex Crosson, Andrew(Brittnee Milbrath) Crosson, Austin Crosson, Tabitha ((Derek) Gagne, Adam (Allison) Sworski, Maranda (Will Keener)LaFave and Mariah LaFave; twenty one Great Grandchildren and twoGreat Great Grandchildren; Sisters, Elaine Beyer of Kingsford and Kathy (Henry) Opolka of Norway; many nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held Tuesday, April 3rd from 9:00amto 10:30am at Erickson-Rochon & Nash Funeral Home of Iron Mountain. Funeral services will follow at 11:00amat St. Mary and St. Joseph Church. Fr. Janusz Romanek will offer the Mass of Christian burial. Burial will be in Iron Mountain Cemetery Park. Pallbearers will be Jamie Pancheri, Matt Pancheri, Daymon Pancheri, Brendan Pancheri, Jon Qualley, CJ Qualley.
