Sheldon L. Burkart

Sheldon Lee Burkart, 35, of Florence, passed away on Thursday, June 24, 2021 at his fiancé’s home in Green Bay, WI. Sheldon was born April 28, 1986. He graduated from Florence High School in 2004. He worked as a laborer at various sawmills for several years. Sheldon recently started fishing and enjoyed that greatly. Sheldon had many other hobbies throughout his life. He built mud trucks, worked on cars and four-wheelers, and he enjoyed racing and giving tattoos. He was looking forward to spending many more days fishing and dirt-biking with his son. On top of all his hobbies that kept him busy, he loved spending time with his family, especially his sons and nieces. They could always count on Sheldon to be on the sideline watching their soccer games or at home playing airplane and horses. Sheldon had the kindest heart and greatest sense of humor. He was known as a big teddy bear or the gentle giant. He was always there for anyone in need. Whether you needed a helping hand, a hug, or a smile, Sheldon was there. He was the most loving son, brother, father, uncle, and friend. He will be very missed by everyone who knew him. Sheldon is survived by his parents, Tammy Burkart of Florence and James Burkart of Florence; two sons, Dylan and Paxtyn Burkart; three sisters, Sharon Burkart, Sadie Burkart (Nate) & Salena Burkart (Josh); his fiancé, Felicia Krueger; four nieces, Faith, Phoenix, Sunny and Daisy; two nephews; Tristan and baby boy due in October; Grandmother Dorothy Burkart; and extended family members, Steve, Hannah and Becky DeJardin. He was preceded in death by a brother, Sonny Burkart; Grandparents Sharon & Tim DeLaruelle; and Grandfather William Burkart. Visitation will be from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm on Friday at St. Mary Catholic Church in Florence. Funeral services will follow at 1:00 pm at the church. Fr. Joseph Gouin will offer the Mass of Christian Burial. Burial will be in the Commonwealth Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Dylan Burkart, Tristan Burkart, Nate Howard, Josh Logan, Jimmy DeClark, Dillon Hetzer, Michael Hancock.
