Ruth Eldridge

Ruth Jane Eldridge, 84, of 1016 Prospect St. in Iron Mountain, died Saturday, July 24, 2010, at Dickinson County Memorial Hospital in Iron Mountain. She was born on Sept. 19, 1925, in Gladstone, daughter of the late David and Beda (Nelson) Cloutier. She grew up on a farm in Stonington before moving to Chicago in 1943, where she went to work in a defense plant during World War II. Jane was married to Edward "Bud" Eldridge and together they moved to Iron Mountain in 1957 where they would raise their family. Bud preceded her in death in January 2008. Jane loved dogs, flower gardening, and walking. She had many collections, and was a big Elvis Presley fan. She and her husband enjoyed motorcycling, snowmobiling, and dancing in their younger years. Jane is survived by her children, daughters, Stephanie Mannino of South Beloit, Ill. and Judy Wierssert of Escanaba; sons, Michael (Mary) Eldridge of Iron Mountain, and Jack (Lori) Eldridge of Marquette; five grandchildren, Travis (Susan) Eldridge of Rockton, Ill., Julie Eldridge of Marquette, Guy (Tracy) Wierssert of Escanaba, and Kate and Megan Eldridge both of Marquette; three great-grandchildren, Kyle and Kenzi Eldridge, and Brandice Wierssert; and her brother, Snooky Reinholdson She is further survived by good friends, the Al and Janet Ambrosia family and the John and Marilyn Lutz family In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Bob Eldridge; two sisters, Dorothy Lund and Marilyn Reese; and two brothers, Dave Cloutier and Albert Reinholdson. Visitation will be held Tuesday from 12 noon to 1:30 p.m. at the Erickson-Rochon & Nash Funeral Home in Iron Mountain. The funeral service will follow Tuesday at 1:30 p.m. at the funeral home. Rev. David Anderson will officiate. Burial will be in the Iron Mountain Cemetery Park. Jane's grandchildren will serve as pallbearers. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to the American Lung Association or the Dickinson County Humane Society.
