Ronald F. "Ron" Sparapani

Ronald F. "Ron" Sparapani, Sr., 78, of Kingsford, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Tuesday, December 2, 2014 at his home. Ron was born September 9, 1936 in Iron Mountain, son of the late Frank and Dorothy (Mooney) Sparapani. He attended Kingsford Schools and was a lifelong resident of the area. Ron married Jeanine Beauchamp on November 24, 1956 at Immaculate Conception Church in Iron Mountain. He belonged to the Bricklayers and Allied Craftsmen Union (B.A.C.) Local #6 and was a working member for over 50 years. Ron was also a member of St. Mary Queen of Peace Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus. He was always kind and patient with children and served as a Cub Scout Leader. Ron was an avid outdoorsman and thoroughly enjoyed spending time with his family at the camp he built. He especially looked forward to deer hunting season each year with his sons, grandchildren and close friends. He was a devoted, generous, loving and caring husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather who always put his family first. His positive demeanor and one of a kind smile will be greatly missed by his family and friends. Ron is survived by his wife of 58 years, Jeanine; two sons, Ronald Sparapani, Jr. (Marsha Gordon) and Randy (Roxanne) Sparapani, both of Kingsford; three daughters, Maria (Randy) Perron of Ruby, MI, Diana Sparapani and Lori Sparapani, both of Green Bay, WI; three sisters, Lola (Donald) Baravetto of Iron Mountain, Sheila Derrick of St. Francis, WI and Rhonda (Jim) Smith of Glendale, AZ; eight grandchildren, 2 step-grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, five step great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a great granddaughter, Grace Marion Greenawald. Visitation will be on Monday from 9:00 to 10:30 am at the Erickson-Rochon & Nash Funeral Home in Iron Mountain. Funeral services will be held at 11:00am on Monday at St. Mary Queen of Peace Church in Kingsford. Fr. Michael Woempner will offer the Mass of Christian Burial. Burial will be in Cemetery Park.
