Robert D. Saxon

Robert (Bob) David Saxon of Kingsford, MI went to sleep with the Lord on January 23rd, 2020 at UW Health Madison, WI after a life-long battle with complications from type-1 diabetes. Bob was born on July 28th, 1960, in Iron Mountain, MI. He was the son of the late Wayne and Ruth (Gustafson) Saxon. Bob went to Iron Mountain High School and graduated with the class of 1978. He worked for A-OK Service as a service manager/repairman for 30 years fixing appliances throughout Michigan and Wisconsin. Bob was an avid hunter and enjoyed many pheasant hunting trips in South Dakota. He also spent many deer seasons at “Kamp Keystone” with brothers-in-law Steve and Karl Atanasoff and good friend Dave “Mac” McIntosh. He and his wife, Kris, loved to travel. They spent many happy times in Las Vegas, NV. They also had a wonderful coast to coast driving trip when they retired. They enjoyed many camping trips at Rivers Bend and other places with friends and family. Bob was a wonderful man and will be sadly missed by his wife and families. He is survived by his best friend and wife of 34 years, Kris; two step-children, Amy (Abe) Allen of De Pere, WI and Jarrad Maki (Mandy) of Iron Mountain, MI; the lights of his life, two grandsons, Luke, his “Little Buddy” and Alex, his “Little Munchkin” Allen; mother-in-law, Carol Atanasoff; siblings, Charlene Krafski of Kingsford, MI, Shirley (Larry) Schmidt of Wichita, KS, Jim (Sue) Saxon of Iron Mountain, MI, Randy (Betty) Saxon of Elizabethtown, KY, Nancy (Nicky) Buchcuski-Shimwela of Iron Mountain, MI and Dar Es Salaam, Tanzania; special nephew, Kirk Robertson of Kenosha, WI; two God-sons, Adam Buchcuski of Iron Mountain, MI and Colin Robertson of Kenosha, WI; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Wayne and Ruth Saxon; father-in-law, George Atanasoff; brother-in-law, Kurt Krafski; as well as other beloved aunts and uncles. Visitation will be Saturday, Feb. 1, 2020, from 11:00 am - 1:00 pm at Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church in Iron Mountain. A short memorial service will follow at 1:00 pm at the church. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the family in Bob's memory for a to-be-determined charity.
