Robert Peterson

Robert A. Peterson, 84, of 308 Cherry St., Kingsford, died Sunday, June 3, 2012 at ManorCare Health Services in Kingsford. He was born March 6, 1928 in Iron Mountain, son of the late Axel and Irma (Zambon) Peterson. Bob graduated from Iron Mountain High School in 1946 and was a lifelong resident of the area. He married Barbara LeClaire on July 16, 1949, at Immaculate Conception Church in Iron Mountain. She preceded him in death on April 9, 2005. Bob was a part owner and operator of the City Baking Co. for 20 years. He was then employed by Dick Brothers Bakery which changed ownership several times before becoming the Taystee Bakery. Bob worked there for 23 years, retiring in 1989. He was an active member of St. Mary Queen of Peace Catholic Church where he was an usher for many years. Bob was also a member of the local Teamsters Union and a 60 year member of UCT. He was an avid trout fisherman and enjoyed going to camp and playing smear. Bob loved to have fun and get together with family and friends, especially the 4th of July family picnic. His children, grandchildren and great grandchildren brought him much joy. He is survived by three sons, Robert Stephen (Kathy) Peterson of Iron Mountain, Thomas Lee Peterson of Iron Mountain, and James Ray (Janice) Peterson of Kingsford; seven grandchildren, Clint (Jodie) Peterson, Theresa Peterson (John Proudfit), Rebecca (Doug) Plourde, Sara Peterson, Matthew (Julie) Peterson, Trevor (Jennifer) Peterson and Aaron Peterson; 11 great-grandchildren, Savahnna, Victoria, Brianna, Cassidy, Joaquin, Andrew, Kailyn, Karen, Brandon, Hannah and Jocelyn, and; two sisters, Marlene (Joe) Ciochetto and Bonnie (Gary) Antonetti; four brothers-in-law, Ronnie (Rosemary) LeClaire of Iron Mountain, Mark (Kay) LeClaire of Kingsford, Gary (Jodi) LeClaire of Texas and George Mortl of Kingsford; two sisters-in-law, Nancy Mortl of Milwaukee and Cheryle Fredrickson of DePere; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a sister, Joyce (Oscar) Hassell and a brother-in-law, Raymond "Pee-wee" LeClaire. Visitation will be from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. on Monday at the Erickson-Rochon & Nash Funeral Home in Iron Mountain. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday 10:00 a.m. at St. Mary Queen of Peace Catholic Church. Fr. Michael Woempner will offer the Mass of Christian Burial. Burial will be in Cemetery Park. Pallbearers will be Clint, Matthew, Trevor, and Aaron Peterson, John Proudfit and Doug Plourde. In lieu of flowers, a memorial will be established in his memory.
