Robert T. Hoaglund, Sr.

Robert T. Hoaglund Sr. 87, of Kingsford, passed away Tuesday, August 2, 2016 at Manor Care Nursing Home in Kingsford. Bob was born on October 24, 1928 in Iron Mountain, son of the late Edwin and Esther (Thomas) Hoaglund. He has been a lifelong resident of this area and was a 1947 graduate of Kingsford High School. Bob married Joyce Schmitt on September 9, 1950 in Iron Mountain. They enjoyed fifty two years together before Joyce passed away in 2002. Bob began his working career with the Wisconsin Electric Power Company as a lineman, later as an electrician and retired after thirty three years as electrical foreman in 1981. Bob and Joyce were active members of Trinity United Methodist Church. Over the years they were very involved with the Iron Mountain-Kingsford Masonic Lodge, Shriners and Jobs Daughters. Bob loved the outdoors. He especially enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending time at the camp he built by hand in Amasa. He was known as the "Mayor Of The Grade" for his legacy and love for the people and land in Amasa. In addition to his parents and wife Joyce, Bob was preceded in death by his daughter in law Susan. Bob is survived by his sons, Robert Hoaglund of Fort Wayne, IN and William (Cheryl) Hoaglund of Charlevoix, MI; a brother,Ralph Hoaglund of Aurora, WI ; sister, Janet Dahl of Schaumburg, IL; grandchildren, Melissa (Matt) Ekwinski of Chicago, IL, Mark (Natasha Shadid) Hoaglund of Detroit, MI, Tess (Alex) Koening of Seattle, WA, Kacey Hoaglund of Grand Rapids, MI and Hunter Hoaglund of Charlevoix, MI; great grand daughter, Quinnie Hoaglund. Also by his best friend and companion, Marge France. Visitation will be on Friday, August 5th from 4:00pm- 6:00 pm at the Erickson-Rochon & Nash Funeral Home of Iron Mountain. Funeral services will follow at 6:00pm Friday at the funeral home. Rev. James Danielson will officiate. Burial will be in Iron Mountain Cemetery Park. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in his memory to Trinity United Methodist Church and the Iron Mountain-Kingsford Masonic Lodge.
