Richard Fuller

Richard G. Fuller, 74, of Breitung Twp., passed away on Saturday, Nov. 3, 2012 at Dickinson County Hospital. He was born on February 15, 1938 in Oconto Falls, WI, the youngest of eleven children born to the late George Harrison Fuller and Ethel E.P. (Wegehaupt) Fuller. Richard lived a "Tom Sawyer-like" childhood in the small town of Oconto Falls, WI. He spent his time stealing fish "only the good ones," cooning, rabbit hunting, harassing his sisters, picking beans for Jennie Gauthier for ten cents a pail, exploring the woods and creating adventures with his friends. Anyone who knew Richard knows he always had a bit of a mischievous side to him; teasing and making people laugh was what he loved. His love for adventure continued after he graduated from Oconto Falls High School in 1956 and enlisted in the United States Air Force where he was stationed at Ramstein AFB in Germany. There he traveled throughout Europe every chance he had. Traveling and exploring was always very important to him, and he instilled this in his own children by taking them on trips all over the United States to see whatever they could, big or small. His greatest adventures were his travels to Alaska along the Alaskan Highway with his grandson and son. Richard was honorably discharged from the Air Force in 1960. He married Cynthia Sue Belanger at St. Patrick's Church in Stiles, WI on October 24, 1964. He worked various jobs, from working at a printing company, tax assessing and electronics, which led to his job at the Oconto Falls Electric Cooperative. He worked at a Hydro Plant in Oconto Falls until 1983 when they relocated to Iron Mountain. Richard took a position in the Iron Mountain office as a tax consultant and was eventually promoted to Manager of Hydro-Electric Operations. He worked at Wisconsin Electric for 29 years until taking an early retirement in 1994. He is survived by his wife, Cynthia; children, Tina (Cory Casagranda) Fuller of Marquette, Tania (Derrick) Hautamaki of Quinnesec and Michael (Sara) Fuller of Poulsbo, Washington; sisters, Ora Kasten of Middleton, WI and Lorna (Walter) Saffran Of Oconto Falls, WI; grandchildren, Keenen (Stephannie) Stiefel, Lynea Hautamaki, Kanan Minden-Wright, Samuel Lee Glover and Harrison Fuller. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Visitation will be from 12:00-1:00pm Friday, Nov. 9th at the Erickson-Rochon & Nash Funeral Home. Memorial services will follow at 1:00pm at the Funeral Home. Rev. Tony Fuller will officiate.
