Patrick Moreau

Patrick Charles Moreau, 75, of 1316 Wilson St. Niagara, died Friday April 30, 2010, at ManorCare HCR in Kingsford. He was born Dec. 28, 1934, in Niagara, son of the late Gilbert and Clara (Veeser) Moreau. "Choppers" was a lifelong resident of this area and a 1952 graduate of Niagara High School. He married the former Kathleen Jane Kelly on April 28, 1952, in Niagara. Choppers worked his entire career at the Niagara Paper Mill until his retirement in 1997. He was a member of St. Anthony's Church in Niagara and served as an usher at the church. Choppers went to camp every day. At camp, he enjoyed cutting firewood, tending to his garden and spending time with his brother James "Fish" Moreau. He especially enjoyed hunting and fishing with his family and relatives. Choppers was also an avid Green Bay Packer, Milwaukee Brewer and Notre Dame fan. He loved attending his grandchildren's sporting events. Along with many happy memories, the legacy he leaves behind is his strong faith in God. He will be sadly missed by his family and friends. He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Kathleen, five children; William (Donna) Moreau of Niagara, Michael (Lori) Moreau of Iron Mountain, Joan (Mark) Shanks of Kingsford, Patricia (Brian) Sparapani of Niagara and Mark (Angela) Moreau of Niagara; his brother James (Marilyn) Moreau of Niagara, sisters Carol (Richard) Clement of Schofield, Wis. Elaine (Douglas) St. Onge of Cudahy, Wis., and Yvonne Nabbefeld of Chelmsford, Mass.; his grandchildren, Shelby, Patrick and Shannon Moreau, Benjamin and Matthew Moreau, Anna, Alek and Allette Shanks, Erin, Emily and Maria Sparapani, Cole Moreau and several nieces, nephews, cousins. He also leaves special friends, Mike "Carpy" Carpenter and James Gussert; a special brother-in-law, Doug St. Onge and a special niece Mary and her two daughters, Kristen and Kari. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brother William Moreau. Visitation will be on Sunday, May 2, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Erickson-Rochon & Nash Funeral Home of Iron Mountain. Parish prayer will be offered at 6:30 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Funeral services will be held on Monday, May 3, at 11 a.m. at St. Anthony's Church in Niagara. Father Matthew Settle will offer the Mass of Christian Burial. Burial will be in the Niagara Cemetery.
