Patricia J. Eyers

Patricia J. Eyers 88, of Iron Mountain, passed away on Wednesday, April 29, 2015 at Hyland Nursing Home. Pat was born December 2, 1926 in Wauwatosa, WI, the daughter of the late Isadore and Doris (Olson) Fayas and step father, Carl B. Olson. Growing up in Iron Mountain, Pat attended and graduated from Iron Mountain High School with the class of 1945. On February 28, 1948, Pat married the love of her life, G. Donald Eyers at the First Methodist Church in Iron Mountain. Their special bond was very strong and grew through the years with celebrating their 67th wedding anniversary this year. At the age of sixteen, Pat started her first job at J.C. Penney in downtown Iron Mountain. Later on she was also employed by the Tot Shop and Kushners, both in Iron Mountain. In 1963, Pat, Don and family moved to Madison, WI, where she worked and retired from Sears Roebuck Co. as a computer operator in their service department. to enjoy their retirement, Pat and Don moved to Green Valley, Arizona where they lived for 12 years. They enjoyed all aspects of this retirement community, especially the good friends that they met there and the warm sunshine. To be closer to family, Pat and Don moved back to Iron Mountain in 2004. They enjoyed getting reacquainted with many old friends and being closer to their relatives in the area. Pat had a beautiful voice and sang in the church choir at the First Methodist Church. She taught Sunday School there and all the children loved her. Her appreciation of Christian music was ever so strong through the years. Her love of animals was always with her, particularly her little shih tzu dog named Mitzu, a constant companion for twelve years. Pat's garden was always full of beautiful flowers and she especially liked working with the Arizona landscape and appreciating the beautiful mountains that surrounded their home. Pat will always be remembered for the beautiful person that she was both inside as well as outside. Her dignity, grace and respect for other people were standards of her life. She will be greatly missed. Pat is survived by her daughter, Linda (Mark Sweet) Eyers of Wisconsin Dells; her son, Randy (Maria) Eyers of Milwaukee; two grandchildren, Andrea (Andy) Norgord of Madison and Ben (Ruth) Eyers of Milwaukee; a grand dog, Lucy and three great grandchildren, Phoebe and Cecelia Norgord and Finnegan Eyers. In addition she leaves behind a sister, Beverly Carollo of Iron Mountain and sisters in law, Eloise "Pinky" Larsen of Wisconsin Rapids and Joyce Eyers of Iron Mountain; brothers in law, Gene Carollo of Iron Mountain and Louis DeWinter of Green Bay; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and stepfather, she was preceded in death by her husband, G. Donald Eyers, on April 3, this year. Visitation will be on Monday, May 4th from 10:00-11:00am at the Erickson-Rochon & Nash Funeral Home of Iron Mountain. Memorial services will follow at 11:00am Monday at the funeral home. Rev. James Danielson will officiate. Burial will be in Iron Mountain Cemetery Park. The family wishes to extend their warmest thank you to the entire Hyland Nursing Home staff for their loving care and support given to Pat and her family.
