Nick Mario Paoletti III

Nick Mario Paoletti III was born on January 2, 1958, as the first baby of the new year to Nick II and Dolores (Victor) Paoletti. Nick graduated from Iron Mountain High School class of ‘76 and resided in the Iron Mountain/Kingsford area for most of his life. Nick worked at Dickinson Homes in his younger years, then on to Shopko where he made many lifelong friends. He retired from Grede Foundry in 2014. He met Rochelle (Shelly) in the early 80’s and married the absolute love of his life on July 21st, 1991. They were an amazing couple raising three children and then grandchildren together. They were inseparable and were the epitome of what a marriage full of love and laughter should be. They were faithful members of American Martyrs Church, and it was truly evident that God was present in everything they cherished. Nick lost Shelly to cancer in 2010 and he clearly has been dying of a broken heart ever since. He was the best Papa to his grandchildren, always making them laugh and getting them into mischief. He and Shelly loved their dogs and raised several over the years. They enjoyed spending time with Nick’s childhood best friend and his wife, Bob and Tammy Giuliani. Nick was an avid Green Bay Packers fan and also a fan of Michigan State basketball-loved watching hometown Tommy Izzo get the win. Nick suffered a stroke in 2014 and moved to the Menominee area where his daughter cared for him for the last seven years. Nick was one of the kindest guys to all and will be missed dearly. Nick is survived by his daughter, Kandace Curran (Lonnie Whitehouse) and her children Kayla Curran (Grand-dog Bentley) and Brooke Lynn and Tanner (Summer Argall) Tickler; his sons, Kevan (Jessica) Curran and children Kyle (Michelle), Kameron, Konner (Abby), and Keagan, and Keith (Sarah) Curran and their children Andrew and William. He is also survived by his sweet sister Linda Stewart and her husband James and his special niece Caitlin- who loved to come and visit her Uncle Nick. Also surviving him are his sisters-in-law, Christine (Hanson) Paoletti (her children and grandchildren) and Ruby White (her children and grandchildren) and Uncle Ray Paoletti, and all of the extended Curran, White, Ambrosia, and Glaser families. Nick was preceded in death by his beloved wife Shelly, his father Nick, sister Ann Paoletti, brother Michael Paoletti, brothers-in-law Ronald J. White and Ted Kujula, sister-in-law Joan Kujala, Uncle Clarence and Auntie Carmen Ambrosia, and his grandson Justin Curran. The family would like to thank Menominee Health Services for all their support and care, especially nurses Shannon, Lisa, Angela, Veronica, Paige and special girl Cassie Emmer. They would also like to thank Upper Peninsula Hospice Service nurses Kathy and Janet for the loving care of their Papa and especially Dr. Vernette Carlson who has taken care of Nick with the utmost love and respect and spiritual wellbeing. He was truly one of a kind and may he finally rest in peace to love and serve the Lord. Visitation will be held from 4:00 to 6:00 pm on Sunday, March 14, 2021, at the Erickson-Rochon and Nash Funeral Home in Iron Mountain. Funeral services will be at 11:00 am on Monday, March 15th at American Martyrs Catholic Church in Kingsford. Fr. Joseph Gouin will offer the Mass of Christian Burial. Nick will be laid to rest at the Breitung Township Cemetery in Quinnesec.
